Home Match Day Thread +++ 16/03/2019 OUFC v Bradford City match day thread +++

Couldn't agree less. Considering the season we've had, and comparing the atmosphere to some other games this season, I thought it was a lot more positive than I expected. Of course there is going to be expression of annoyance when we shoot wide for the 27th time, or is your complaint about fans celebrating a bit too raucously?
To be clear, it's perfectly fine and natural to be frustrated, it's absolutely not ok to come in and complain from minute one at each home game just because, until we score, with absolute negative zeal and smugness. Simply put, if you take every bad pass or tackle so personally like someone stole your lunch money and gave you an atomic wedgie in front of the whole school, you need to take a long hard look at yourself and why you bother. How about supporting the team for a change?

95% plus of fans stayed with the team today, the 5% of negative knob heads drag everyone down for no reason other than wanting to be right proving Tiger is a slum lord, Gobbo is a t**t and Mackie is a waste of money. It's tiring to listen to every home game, especially when the team really needs everyone behind them. Why bother?

Not sure I agree. I think in games like today that are clearly big occasions the crowd can up themselves. It’s the more ‘nothing’ games that the ultras brought atmosphere to.
There were still a number of "former ultras" in the original block starting songs today, you can't just turn off the passion! Thought the left side have been better recently though :)

On the subject of man of the match, it is a shame to say that the match sponsors had decided the outcome before the game even kicked off!

Clearly overheard in the 1893 club lounge pre-match - Sam Long.

Not saying he didn't have a good game, he did, but makes a mockery of the whole affair.

An exciting and bizarre ending to a game made difficult by the wind. No ref should be that weak no matter what your view of the goal.

On the rest of the game, I doubt we will play a team as poor as Bradford for a long time, they offered nothing for most of the game, on that they are deservedly bottom and should go down.

We were the better team, made hard work of it though but got the vital 3 points. In those conditions you have to be happy but we will have to improve a bit to get the necessary points for safety against the better opposition ahead.

Thought that was strange, he didn’t have that much to do for a lot of the game as Bradford offered very little going forward.

I dunno. maybe you're just unlucky where you're sitting at the moment. I do remember for a few seasons that we had someone who was a total hole from where the poo comes out who was exactly like you were describing. Maybe he's fished off and sitting where you are now. but overall I don't think you can make that criticism of the east stand as a whole.

One of the things their manager said was that the attacker never touched it for the open goal chance before we scored. If you look at the highlights as it goes out of play he looks up as if he's going to appeal (assume for a corner) then his head goes down, he hits the floor with his fist as though he's just messed up. I'm sorry but team in bottom four, stoppage time, if you get tackled and the ref gives a goal kick rather than corner then that isn't your reaction... you'd be up screaming at ref and lino straight away.
From the sounds of catching up with Rad Ox post match show that the officials got it right with the last bit (e.g. checking again with the other lino and then giving the goal again) but his lack of clear communication and decision making is what caused that farce at the end. Looking at the highlights the ref gave the goal - they were lined up with ball on centre spot - and then disallowed it, you can see him pointing towards our goal for what must have been a re-take of the goal kick. He then reversed the decision again.... three goes to get a decision on a last minute winner. Thank god that wasn't a big local derby somewhere.... shocking lack of management.

Robinson picked an attacking side and had us going for it from the beginning. Good chances were created but not finished (is that down to the manager?) He then made changes around the right time to keep us pressing. Does he get any credit for this or is that not allowed?!

And, today showed more than ever how woeful some of the referring is at this level, so maybe Robinson has a point!

Also, Kashi looked decent and along with Sykes, Graham and Sinclair it looks like we had a fairly decent January window.

But I guess it's more important that he speaks eloquently on the radio for 2 minutes after every game!!!
Keeping us out of the bottom 4 would do me ?

It wasn't meant so. Seeing a few people who just come to moan and tell everyone they were right is incredibly tiring and self defeating. The games when those morons don't come are just glorious. A chap a few rows down had the most wonderful tantrum when Scunthorpe scored - it was like seeing a man is his 50s spit the dummy out because he couldn't have an extra helping of custard with his pudding. Quite bizarre and disturbing.

So he’s not claiming a penalty. He’s claiming a corner, then complaining that the Ref should’ve booked Nelson before allowing the re-start, then claiming Ruffles touched it inside the box, then claiming Eastwood shouldn’t have taken it as he had 4 players inside the box.
Bloody hell, he might as well throw in that Eastwood parked in a ‘parent with pram’ Parking bay outside Tesco’s a week last Tuesday and Mousinho has an overdue library book from 2006 while he’s at it...

Very late but YESSSSSSS!!!!! Mackie you beauty! Been watching swansea vs man city with a city fan in the home end. Long story short we nearly got mauled by swansea fans when he jumped up after getting a pen?
Who is this Man City , you talk about?

Eastwood , pushed that goal .... Weldone him , and the goal stands as it should! I do not think our Northern chaps are happy about it! But we got what we should have got out of the game 3 points! Great goal Mackie!

Jerome Sale got it right when he described that last minute (plus 5) as iconic OUFC. Never seen any last ditch celebrations like that at Kas Stadium. Turmoil.

The aftermath though was ersatz VAR - we must fight for it to be kept out of the EFL.

85% of that stellar spectator goal rush was taken away by all that delay. I suppose we got the right decision in the end however.

This team is consistently frustrating. Showing real promise at the back and central midfield for once the front 4 now choose to play with a total brain f##k attitude in front of goal.

I have never such wasteful finishing. Bradford were appallling and should have been buried.

Continue to be entertained by this weird season and roll on Cov..

Also, it would be weird if goalkicks definitely could not be taken until an attacking player left the penalty area right? Presumably you could then be one up in stoppage time and just have one player standing in the area, preventing a quick goal kick?

Or, Wycombe would set up a little squatter’s camp with tents and a campfire in the corner of the area in the third minute of every game, and have a guaranteed goalless draw every time.

Here are the rules around goal kicks:
Clears the ambiguity up, shouldn't have been disallowed for having Bradford players in the box since they didn't challenge for the ball, only question is where Ruffels touched it. Looks like the closest linesman thinks it was in the box, don't get why he was overruled but don't particularly care either.

The Ref utterly lost it. How no Bradford player got booked for dissent when they refused to kick off beggars belief?! Especially the player (I think he had already been booked) who pulled the ball away from the Ref and put it behind his back. I wonder if a report has gone in about that? Noticeably Bowyer didn't mention that in his list of rants.
