Having watched I feel on that evidence Hanson could do a job at DM when Gorrin is inevitably suspended. Clare is improving slowly. To be fair Sykes worked hard but no end product despite his pace and skills and concedes way too many needless fouls. Forde was unusually quiet. Agree Re promise of C-Parillon. Apart from the goal Obita looked quality at left back. Shows we have decent squad cover I guess. I like Jones. Has a lot of assets but unsurprisingly for an 18 yr old prone to an odd error. Well done the young lad. What composure.

Hicks was awful. He was looking right at Matt/Hall when Matt fore-arm smashed Hall yet did nothing. I could understand him missing the one on Sykes though.

Couldn't get the book out quick enough to book KR though.

And when crowds have just got back into a Stadium why have the penalty shootout at the end furthest away from them (or at least the majority)?

How many of 0xfords last 5 record youngest players were given debuts under robinson?

Job Done!

- 10 out of the 11 first choice players got a rest
- All the squad players got some useful minutes
- A good run-out for some of the youngsters
- We're in the hat for the next round and can do it all again in a few weeks!

I thought Sykes was very influential (having ripped into him after the Swindon game), but as has been said above, still a frustrating lack of end product too often. Most of the attackers drifted in and out of the game - how Shodipo can do something that amazing, and then disappear five minutes later for twenty minutes is so frustrating. Hanson isn't Gorrin but he was solid enough.

Nico Jones, I feel, would really benefit from a loan move - ideally to the Conference. The guy clearly has all the raw materials to make a great CB, but he's just prone to the odd error or switch off. Playing every week at a decent level would quickly knock some of those edges off his game.
I know why KR hasn't done it yet - it's because we have so few defenders that it would only take a couple of injuries, and we'd need Jones in our own match day squad. But I would like to see us get someone else in as defensive cover for a few months in January, and send Jones somewhere where he can hone his craft. The PJT alone isn't enough (and he's not yet good enough to play instead of Moore or Atkinson).

Largely in agreement there Tony. Hopefully Jones will get some regular football from January onwards and as you say, get knocked into shape. He has the physical attributes and looks comfortable on the ball but is prone to losing concentration.

Being a brilliant, perceptive judge of the game, I was bemoaning Shodipo’s ability to beat a man, along with his lack of strength and pace, almost exactly at the time he showed his strength and pace to score the goal.

Well done the young man stepping up to score the first penalty - did he touch the ball in the actual game?

Must admit I'm developing a bit of a soft spot for the competition

Just got back from the game, what a change now we are living in the shire! Used to take us a good hour and a half down the A34.

Sykes, on the performance tonight can be dropped - sorry, ran around like a headless chicken and committed too many fouls.
Hanson -Pleasantly surprised, he looked keen and willing and showed a few decent touches.
Shodipo well, aside from a brilliant goal, another prima donna performance. Held the ball for too long, could have crossed or passed but wanted another touch. Could and should do better and will have to if we are to keep him.
Agyei showed strength and but for a few slips, could have scored.
Jones has still got a way to go, his ball control and anticipation of ball travel let him down.
Clare, Obita, both class acts but Forde has lost his confidence and looked a shadow of the player just a few weeks ago.
Hall showed a lot of what we know him for without the end product, so frustrating to see a player in there somewhere trying to come back.
Mous, well, sorry mate but your playing days are coming to an end. Get your knee sorted and come back to coach.
Eastwood was ok but not commanding in his area and fell back into some hoof ball tactics when it was clear we had the beating of FGR on the ground. Still good to see him make no catastrophic errors and was not barracked by anyone.

Have to say that FGR are a physical side and not averse to cheating and taking swipes at players when they thought they could get away without punishment.

And can anyone tell me what the hell the 4th official was doing half the time? He was getting in everyone's ear and being a right t**t.

Not much to add other than I think Chambers-Parillon's performance is being downplayed by some on here. I thought he looked immense. So often youth players come in and look like boys playing in a man's game, but he looks the full package already. His first touch was the assist for the goal and it was him who changed the game in our favour. Get him in the match day squad.

Also, having slated Clare on Saturday, I have to say he was at the centre of pretty much everything we did that was good today. Some good link up down the right in the first half with Hall and looked surprisingly assured at left back. Fair play to him.

Obita is such an asset. Quite apart from being quality on the ball (one ball he fizzed across in the box would have been tapped away by Taylor no problem), you can see his value as an older head. I noticed him talking through movements and giving directions to both Shodipo and Jones at different points this evening, imparting some experience.

Finally, I absolutely loved Shodipo's celebration. I hope it had the pathetic individual in the East who booed the knee-taking at the beginning of the match frothing at the mouth. Shame on you.

Yes GOD touched the ball when challenging for it just inside the opposition half. Was at the match and thought he might not get a touch during normal play but glad he did.

kr said in an interview, when he was setting up other loan moves, that he couldn't get a conference side to take him on loan. I think he mentioned Conference South and North as well.

Yeah as well as the assist for Shodipo's goal with practically his first touch he played very well.
