No thanks to Kane. Got steadily worse in his time here, we need midfielders with more toughness and resilience than he showed.
I missed some of his earlier games but even later in the season he showed plenty of quality at times. It looked to me that the issue he had was having to play the holding role, the failure to replace Gorrin in January meant we didn't have a proper holding midfielder and also wasted a quality player in Kane, it was a hell of an oversight , especially considering Gorrin was injured in early November so we had plenty of time to find someone.

For all the hype of signing Baldock (looks to be class for this level but has a history of injuries, played about 800 minutes before missing the rest of the season and is now injured again) and Browne (class, off an injury, played for too long on his return, injured again) we failed to address the less glamorous positions which ended up costing us. Luckily we seem to be on top of that this time.

Rak-Sakyi would be a very exciting signing. One of the brightest prospects in PL2, he’s a left footed forward who plays off the right and has pace to burn and the quality to go with it. He’d be a genuine goal threat too. I’m never overly keen of first loans, but no denying the kid has the talent to be too good at this level.

Saw him listed as a LW but you’re right, having watched some videos of him he’s very much about cutting in from the right. Can see why KR would be interested.

Based on sofascore rating Findlay was one of Philadelphia’s weaker players registering a rating of 6.8 compared to the team average of 6.93

Worth noting Liverpool flew home this weekend. They are spending a few days back in England before going out to Austria. Wonder if Tyler Morton was one of the deals KR was so unsure about getting done?

Corrr, that Rak-Sakyi looks to be one hell of a talent.
Any truth in that rumour, or is it wishful thinking??

more atmosphere than anything in america
In deepest Texas, Ricky Otto has just been woken abruptly in the middle of the night by some unknown force over the Atlantic, sat up in bed, startled, with the overwhelming feeling that someone somewhere has done or said something very bad.

Brace yourself.

The Alan Nixon news is that we have joined the race to sign Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi
How many players have we “joined the race for” or “shown an interest in”? It really means very little. And although Egg will doubtless claim it’s a sign of ambition, we have managed to sign/loan , er … none of them in the last couple of months. Unfortunately KR has an over-inflated sense of his own appeal and Oxford clearly isn’t as attractive a destination as he’d like to believe. As has happened before, they’ll doubtless be two or three panic third/fourth choice panic buys a few days before Derby.
