Home Match Day Thread +++ 2/10/18 OUFC v Luton Town +++

The turning point was the sending off. It came at the worst possible time. We were pushing, Luton weren't creating anything, and it looked like we might be able to nick a win. I can sort of see the gamble in leaving Baptiste on because he was playing well with the ball, and none of the players on the bench give us that same thrust in midfield, but it backfired massively. He's now out for the next game (or more?), and our players were all cramping up and have another match on Saturday, which they'll presumably be knackered for.

Getting difficult to make a case to support KR now. I think tonight will have turned many who were on the fence, me included. The last few games have not been particularly difficult on paper. The opening to the season could be forgiven but four 2-1 losses in 5 games to four very limited teams is really difficult to be positive about. I really think this could be a hammer blow to morale as well. It must have been pretty fragile beforehand, but a conceding a 97th minute winner, having been ahead, in a bit of a local derby, must be crushing.

I’m not sure jeering our own players helps the situation. Embarrassing.

Tbf he isn't going to publicly discuss perceived failings or otherwise of his boss is he? Question is do we have the means to identify a new candidate quickly?

"Decision made by management and I don't want to talk about that."
or
"Decision made by management and I support it, but am disappointed."

Worlds apart...

Good summation Gary.
Stupid mistakes game after game. Mousinho Saturday and Hanson today.
It was almost today as if Whyte and Holmes felt that they had to do but all by themselves.
Poor team work and we are starting to get into real trouble
"Starting to get into real trouble"? The team have been in trouble since 3 oclock 4th August.

Hanson made the same mistake the other week. We had a let off with the Luton disallowed goal...then let them do it again!

I coach in another sport and incessantly tell them how they have to use their heads when playing. Use your brain, work things out. We currently have a team of zombies

I felt sorry for Obika today - a complete fall guy for the chaos around him. He is doing what he is told and the balls into him are largely poor that leave him with little choice. He could look like he runs around like a clown and it will sate some of the morons in the East Stands's taste. That's all they care about it seems.

The decision to make the pitch bigger is the probably the dumbest decision we've made this season.

Eastwood gave some good insight.
Basically said Hanson is s**t. Baptiste should no way be captain and Nelson is pissed at losing it. Obika is too weak.

Mackie wasted a good 2-3 minutes by pretending to be injured. Then fluffed a decentish chance right at the end.

Just home, f**k what a load of B*****s. Both Derry and Robinson are C***s and need to go no more pussyfooting around, tomorrow morning 2 p45’s on the table. Get rid bad for the club bad for the health of the fans.
When asked on radoxnif Robinson took responsibility he struggled to answer before eventually saying yes, when asked about bringing Hanson in he seemed to try and deflect the answer so as to not to admit he did but Nathan presses him for the answer which eventually he admitted. A total travesty a very P**s ooor season which will get worse.
What do those who said it will get easier now we’ve played the relegated teams and the favourites, hiding no doubt.
We have some of the best players in league 1 but we have a s**t team.

Sorry for Obika? Just admit he’s s**t.

I think you think Obika is someone else.

I don't. He won one challenged header in 90 minutes of football. Pathetic for a man his size..

I think that’s time up for Robinson for me.
You could say we were unlucky tonight but there becomes a time where you have to create your own luck.
This season is by no means over. There are still 35 games to play but Tiger needs to act now.
I think Robinson made a mistake by not bringing in Richie Barker to work along side him instead of Derry.

Where’s all these great players we were supposed to sign, you know the WOW ones?

Hardly surprising given the circumstances, and to be fair our fans were pretty solid behind the team until the last goal went in.

Jeering Mitchell in the first half, jeering obika when he made a pass, then celebrating when obika was subbed....all before the 98th minute.

I said it last week, will say it again. The lone striker, with our current system is largely redundant.

Not really. He's an average target man, left on his own up front, with poor balls played into him that don't allow him to do much. Sure he could look better doing it, but whoever plays that role has been largely crap and derided. That is system deficiencies, not player.

He can be better, but how we play, he'll continue to struggle. At some point, the manager has to workaround the players, not the system

I had a double take at that. I thought that KR was very keen on bringing in Hanson. I wonder what happened?
He was stumbling over his answer to the question about who brought Hanson in

Look at the balls played to him. All over his head and to a big centre back where he was never going to consistently win the ball against. Smith, Mackie, Kitson, Moody, Francis etc would struggle with that low quality service. In some respects, the manager has hung him out to dry with the way we play.
