A hoofing tinpot team is bit disrespectful in my view. I think its more a case of a well organised team that rely on set pieces for a lot of there goals, and to be honest they are not the only team in the lower leagues to play like that are they. We should have been able to deal with it but we didn't so that's that.

It will be interesting to see if they try to play like that in the Championship. Personally I think if you concede 75% possession to these Championship teams they will just kill you.

I'm not sure we have to be dictated to on the Oxford Utd forum by fans of other teams. Wycombe however have an admiral work ethic though - I think Ainsworth could revive any team given time.

He won hands down????!!!! Football is a results based business and we lost 2-1. Ainsworth set it his team to play a strong direct sort of football that wins games and does so cheaply and doesn't take time to gel. Sounds like he made the correct decisions. For me there is something honest and glorious in direct route one football. Statistically speaking tapping about results in much fewer goals that one's with less than 3 passes before it.

They won through luck.you don’t see teams trying to only have the ball 25% of the time and only trying to have 4 chances in a game.we don’t make an error and take our chances Wycombe lose every time.

A few points though....

Setting up for only 40% football will, as you put it, help “naff all” in the championship.

Wycombe did not “deserve” what they achieved this year. The season was not finished and you were 8th and dropping when lockdown started. What you would have achieved in all likelihood is mid table.

What Wycombe achieved was more as a result of a right royal “f**k up” from us that gifted the game... but I guess that is our own fault and s**t happens. We are now having to deal with that.

Effectively your promotion came down to a few games.... roll of the dice.

As a Wycombe fan you are naturally looking at what you achieved on the day for a club of your size..As Oxford fans we are about thinking it would have been better to lose the way we did to Rotherham who tore us to pieces first half with superb pass and movement at our place or Posh at theirs or a see saw game with Coventry...
You wrongly suggest that our style is not the way and madness to string passes together but we had gotten to 3rd playing that way whereas your style had you hanging on to the tails of the play offs and then a formula that nobody was aware of presented you with opportunity to get promotion so yes you got promoted and well done for that but whilst the media have gone very ott, asking or suggesting you deserve respect for what you achieved over the season is pushing it when you look at where you were at Lockdown.

I think Wycombe are a better team than they looked on Monday and have some decent players. However we have scored a whole lot more goals through our 20 pass moves, and Wycombe are the lowest scoring of the top teams in the league. That will cost you next season, as well as your inability to retain possession.

Rotherham at home we made 3 massive mistakes for their goals. 2nd half we should have drawn level. Ironically baptiste missed a sitter
