Fan's View T'Manor Podcast - Season 20/21 Episode Thread

Good episode as usual, but a shocking lack of knowledge about the Oxford music scene πŸ˜‚ (although respect for namedropping The Rock of Travolta).

The Ride boys will be most upset that they weren't mentioned as potential shirt sponsors, especially as Mark Gardener has been spotted on many an occasion in the North Stand.

Mark Gardener was often seen in The Priory for a pre match beer prior to home games ( when the Priory was open- at The Manor, he was often at games
...who remembers ' pop- stars corner', at the Manor (on the Beech Road terrace).... and which local/ or otherwise 'pop stars' were often spotted there (or elsewhere at The Manor - & at OUFC games in the 20 years since ) ?

The Candyskins were the most prominent pro Oxford United band back in the day and even played a gig in the old Social Club at the Manor. Alas they are no more. Phil Selway the Radiohead drummer is a Yellows fan. Arthur Turner's Lovechild are also worthy of a mention.

Sir Bald Diddley ( prolific Benson based Surf, Rock n Roll, Ska, frat and other late 50s/early 60s music purveyor n performer) is an avid OUFC supporter... often at home and a few away games

ATL signed a record deal ( for Β£1)on the pitch before a home game at the Manor

Saw Doctors frontman Davy Carton ( in a relationship with a lifelong OUFC fan) has been to a few home, and one or two away , games in recentish seasons, when he's been in England with his partner visiting her family- in Oxford and Nottingham areas

Samurai Seven as well, saw them play the social club wearing replica shirts.

Pretty sure I saw one of the Cassels boys play at Truck wearing a replica shirt. He might have been trying to be ironic though…

Samurai Seven, best band to come out of Oxford! They had a song called 'Juve lost that loving feeling' about Juventus pulling out of the proposed link up with Oxford United in the 90s. Cracking song as well!

Good listen as always, 5mins of trying to recall what a draught excluder was called, and failing, had me laughing on my run today πŸ˜‚
