CWC 19: England V New Zealand

cricket authorities perhaps need to reasses the run rate criteria requirement in this odi CWC ... NZ are looking like theyre happy to tick along towards 180...if theyre lucky 200 , but protecting wickets to ensure they qualify .....so its not much of a spectacle , watching grass grow or paint dry about as entertaining as the negativity from NZ batsmen currently ...even though odi is supposed to provide exciting cricket

Blimey! a rare 4 from an NZ batsmen ... and in celebration theres a streaker on the outfield:ROFLMAO:

given the (lack of) urgency by the stewards /groundstaff , theyre all kiwi batsmen too? :ROFLMAO:

15 overs left .... NZ a lethargic 147-6 ... NZ need ( but dont look like getting any where close to) 159

As they are discussing on TMS - this match has come down to a run rate damage limitation exercise for NZ, which is very dull. They'll have to look at how the equivalent of 'goal difference' is calculated.

At last , a wicket .... Plunkett get Latham on 57 caught by Buttler

166-7 ...11 overs left .... NZ ( not bothered to) chase 140

Or they could just say that ties are resolved by # of sixes hit in the tournament?

The problem with NRR is:
a) It creates weird incentives to not try to win in games such as this, and
b) You can essentially screw yourself over for the tournament in one match; by losing to West Indies the way they did (bowled out for 100, then the Windies knocking those off inside 14 overs), Pakistan basically dug themselves a hole in their first game that they're extremely unlikely to climb out of.

I think Zaltzman said that, as it stands, Pakistan will have to bat first on Friday, score 400 and then bowl Bangladesh out for 14 to get to the semis!

Wood takes Santner out LBW .... 166-8 10.4 overs left ... could bowl em all out in the next few overs ... what would that do to run rate etc?

most amount of sixes has to be better than this weird configuration

... or perhaps radox style one second song challenge may be an idea? ;)

But most amount of sixes could also be unfair if you have some teams playing on smaller grounds? Or perhaps they should then make the playing area the same size on every ground by moving the boundary triangles in on the larger ones?

yep ... theres that too ....I think it needs something better than whats currently in place though

6 overs left , cmon England get their last wicket in the next over

Stumped ! all out for 186 ...England win by 119 ...and are in the Semi Finals :giggle:

Well done, England.

I had severe doubts after the Australia game, coming on the back of the Sri Lanka game. But they've finished the way we expected them to play all tournament.

Now we just need to win two more tosses and bat first...….

Agree with that ....bat first n England should win

Pakistan to post 480+ and skittle out Bangladesh for less than 160ish ? Look out for some dodgy Asian Book Makers in a Hotel near you ?

Hello England, nice to see you've remembered how to play one day cricket.

A very good team performance today, they got the rub of the green winning the toss, but still executed the plan very well. I bet the other teams in the final 4 are miffed England seem to have got over their bump in the road.

Think it has shown how important Roy is to the side (Surrey Scum ?). Perhaps we should give him a go in the tests? Just a thought...

Our name is on that cup,no other team can match us when we play like we have last 2 games, 2 to go
