National News London Bridge

Is that a guess or is it based on factual statements made by the police? Because I thought they were treating it as a terror incident.

I said that "I would suspect, from what I heard" so it's not from the police. However, "treating" something as a terrorist incident is very different from it being proven a ssuch. It gives the polce access to a huge amount of resources from the counter-terrorism teams and helps reassure the public.

But as for factual statements, I know that the individual was a heavy drug user and had used psychoactive substances whilst in prison. These, on top of existing mental health issues that had been identified, can lead to bizarre and unpredicatble behaviour. It may be impossible to say what the motivations or triggers were, but there is already suspicion that the attack may have been homophobic or a random attack rather than being down to some religious ideology.

Perhaps you should contact the investigating officers as you appear to know a lot of personal stuff about the accused.

Read this on the ether and it is very, very true and tragically sad in equal measure.

"James Furlong, 36, taught history in a girls school.
Stabbed to death (alongside two others) for no reason at all.
There won't be a minutes silence in Parliament for him.
No footballers will take a pre-match knee or have some trite slogan printed on their shirts because he is dead.
The BBC won't live stream his funeral.
This time next month you probably won't remember his name.
He was a normal British citizen like you and me.
He never robbed anyone.
He never served a prison sentence.
He wasn't a drug addict.
He was just a teacher."

Yet our players did a minutes silence yesterday for the victims of the Reading stabbings.

Once again, non-related s**t-stirring on social media trying to undermine the protests against racism, let's compare it to something entirely different and say its double standards.

It's no wonder nothing changes.

Extension of logic: every time a human life is lost in tragic circumstances the whole world doesn't grieve as one. Therefore, under no circumstances should more deference be given to the loss of life of one individual than any other individual.

So, no minute's silence for the death of an OUFC supporter or player before a game. It would be wrong to do so if the death of anonymous Mr Smith in Bridlington is not given the same attention.

So I have thought about the above extract and I find it irrelevant.

So why is the world grieving over the death of one convicted armed robber with a drug problem except for the fact he was killed by a violent thug of a police officer?

Now, now! No diversion tactics please. Your point was the teacher deserved the same respect as Floyd. I dare say he did, so let's decide to either have a minute's silence (etc) for EVERY dead human being, or for none. Let's not descend into whataboutism, where a discussion on one incident is subverted to bring in other issues.

Police in America haven't changed their approach for over 70 years..... very interesting and enlightening watch this is ( was screened on BBC4 last night)

My point being
A good person dies at the hands of a violent thug = nothing.
A violent thug dies at the hands of another violent thug = Global mourning and hashtags.

Good people deserve the mourning, violent thugs do not.

The death of Floyd was not just 'a violent thug etc'. It was the latest of many deaths of black people at the hands of police, and the statistics I've already quoted show the disproportionate number of black people killed by police compared to those of other ethnic groups. That is why BLM has come to the forefront, not just because a violent thug is a recent victim.

If some altruistic person - you perhaps? - wanted to start a new group called, say, All Lives Matter that can demonstrate whenever someone is murdered, crack on. I'd support that, but doesn't mean BLM wouldn't be a cause worth continuing alongside ALM.

His leg doesn't look hurt.

Why's it hurt anyway? I can manage to walk down the street without hurting my leg.

I hurt my leg once and I just got on with things.
What if all 3 version of Morph hurt their legs? Is there a hierarchy of whose leg matters more than others? Is the ankle more important than the knee? Is there a systemic leg hurting issue or just a hole in the path? ;) ;) ;)

What a predicament to get across in a cartoon!!

Said it before the problem is two fold.....violent armed thugs on both sides in America. That is how it is over there.
In the UK we have policing by consent, legislation to protect people and, generally, a very fair and equal society for all.
The complete pish that there should be positive discrimination should be scrapped, if you are good enough for the job you`ll get it. That is parity and fairness.

very very strange.........the media and the luvvies havent even mentioned the BLM march that preceded these murderous attacks by "a person of colour" against soley WHITE victims??? what do you think the BBC would have gone with if 3 black people had been stabbed to death in a park directly after a so called "far right" march ??? and dont get me started with a certain posters bull :poop: figures about deaths in custody in the US.....................pfffffffffffffft

The BLM march has been mentioned in numerous news reports, but there is absolutely no evidence that this incident was linked to it. But then you know this but it doesn't fit with your ignorant views does it?!
