General 30/03/2023 - KPC meeting

In fact, was I even listening to the same meeting??
Tbh they are a tinpot organisation that have now been found in bed with FOSB. They’ve massively shot themselves in the foot, two people withdrew their support at the meeting, they only had 20 signatures on that piece of paper from Robey. Who is a lying utter disgrace btw. That’s not even slanderous as it’s their live on record that he basically lied to the local people he represents and attempted to blindside the club. Honestly McWilliams did really well to maintain composure. I would have lost my s**t if that happened to me.

Luckily they have little to no say if this will be built & I think they will have pissed off a lot of local residents and councillors in the process.

My 11 year old son spoke at the meeting tonight, thankyou to anyone in attendance that gave him a round of applause, it'll do his confidence the world of good knowing he has the courage to stand and speak infront of so many people.
He did well mate. I watched it live on zoom & he represented himself well. You should be proud.

The fact that Robey made the statement at the start of the evening, saying that this is a meeting with no vote, is where he's really shot himself in the foot.

He clearly knew of FOSB's intention, as he had the list of 20 names. I'll have to take his word for the fact that it's their legal right, and he had to keep it secret (although f**k knows why anyone should believe a word that comes out of his mouth!).

But, with that knowledge he should not have said that it was a meeting with no vote. He did not have to say that. He lied, no one made him lie, he chose to make that statement of there not being a vote, he is a disgrace.

I hope three things now happen:

1 - The club send Robey a serious legal letter telling him in no uncertain terms that they will not work with KPC while he's chairman.
2 - This gets PROPERLY reported by the local media and the undecided of Kidlington realise they've been lied to and used by a small group of Nimbys.
3 - All of us, whether residents or not, go door knocking in Kidlington and canvass the hell out of the place and make sure we give FOSB and Robey a bloody nose at their irrelevant poll.

To point 3, worth starting a thread for volunteers to register their commitment to door knock ?

Just listened back to a recording I have of the meeting and the poll question will be 'Should Kidlington Parish Council oppose the building of a football stadium by Oxford United Football Club in Kidlington?'

Vote No!!

They'll win this vote, as they know, because those against are more engaged with local politics. Even though I think more will support actually getting them to actively participate in a political issue will be difficult.

Not sure how that is done & it’s funny that a screen recording sign only came up when they started talking about the vote. Very fishy but tbh it’s no surprise. Robey is a disgrace and is about as impartial as FOSB. Said at the start of the meeting that no vote would take place, then one suddenly gets announced

I think Liam Walker is organising something he wasn’t impressed with the poll bollox

When do the current Kidlington Parish Councillors next come up for re-election? How easy would it be to get this lot booted out?

He spoke very well and his last sentence about what would KPC do for local youth football if OUFC aren’t here. Or words to that effect

He did seem to have a wry smile on his face throughout Robby’s comments

It might have carried a bit more weight if it was Should Kidlington residents oppose the building of a football stadium by Oxford United football club in Kidlington?
