New Stadium Plans - The Triangle - Planning

Genuine question, what would you have preferred to a bowl?

I like the DC United stadium (albeit the open roofed areas would need a roof in England!) I believe that was built while under the ownership of our current group.

Like i said, i understand why it probably has to be the way it's been designed and i'm by no means criticising the plans. They are really good! Hopefully we will get some really ground breaking and original designs around the stadium to really stand out from other grounds of similar visual design.

It's very exciting!

We just need a bridge or an underpass to get from the station to the sadium across the Oxford Road. This would be safer and it would let the traffic flow better. Someone mentioned an underpass and it did look like there was one in one of the pictures released this afternoon. I would love that.

BBC South TV rolled out a very smug and vinegary McIvor to witter on about something new.

Unchallenged to spout out how it's not a done deal and she's got the power bla bla misery misery.
Complete contrast to ITV Meridian. What has McIvor got over the BBC? Why is she allowed to spout her bile on air? She has had nothing positive or constructive to say in regards to the stadium or OUFC. She has displayed a singular negative attitude towards anything and everything. She represents nobody except herself and her own selfish and narrow minded NIMBY mentality.
The BBC as the state owned and tax payer funded media should be presenting a fair and unbiased image instead, they allow McIvor to vent her vitriolic and non sensical opinions unopposed.
No doubt the nonsense will be further propagated by the Oxfail tomorrow.

Looks nice and close to the pitch. That was my number one concern.

My second concern was that the capacity would be stupidly high, but the renders look like we've designed a really fantastic mid sized stadium for a sensible capacity.

No real complaints. I was expecting something more obviously proud of it's eco-friendly status, but this looks great.

I have an important date in September 2027 that seems miles away for me and has dragged for the last couple of years.

Now, it seems really close because our new stadium could be built the year before if all goes well which is bloody 3 years away - WTAF.

The plans look amazing, I'm filled with confidence about those involved and I hope to be walking to the new ground to watch us play a Championship game at some point in 2026/27 season.

Cherwell council, if you're reading, please don't be swayed by the objectors, their objections are related to greed and nothing else.

The plans look good. I love the Ox head on the side of the stadium, the arch at the site entrance; which must be a nod to the London Rd and retaining the Ox is great.

Personally, i am a little underwhelmed by the 'bowl' nature of the stadium but i do understand that may be a requisite to satisfy the light and noise pollution etc. I'd have preferred us to have something a little more 'original' if at all possible and within the budget.

A few points that immediately spring to mind:

1) I can't see a mention of safe standing. Is it going to be incorporated? If so, for how many supporters?
2) What does the crossing look like from OP/P&R? I'd have thought an underpass or bridge would certainly be more beneficial, rather than a zebra crossing.
3) The land directly south of 'our' site looks a prime patch of land for additional ancillary commercial outlets. Hopefully the powers are speaking with the University and building that relationship, with a view to a future deal over that land.

This is really exciting for our club and i have no doubt that the football club and planning consultants are a long way down the road with satisfying some of the obvious objections and concerns that will be raised.
From the zoom meeting a few weeks ago....

Today's documents don't go into any detail of the seating/standing arrangements, so hopefully safe standing is still going ahead. Would be a negative about turn if it isn't.

I should imagine the BBC, in there need to be balanced, have McIvor on speed dial as they know she will be opposed to everything, whether that be a football stadium, beach volleyball or children getting Christmas presents, the killjoy will be an anti mouthpiece.

I totally agree. Usually I defend the BBC most times, but this is really poor. Why that woman gets so much air time is beyond me, must be her status as a millionaire property developer.
