Tickets Pompey Away - Tickets on Sale

I posted about winning the next 2 games after we had just had a week where we beat Wigan and got a point away at Wycombe. It was 2 games where I think most fans would expect us to win.

I do still expect to win more games than we lose between now and the end of the season.
Well I for one would be highly delighted if they do

You're in a minority I'm sure. 11 games left, I will be very surprised if we win 3 or 4. Des has 5 wins in 19 - 1 every 4. What have you seen in those 19 games that says we can improve on that ? We are getting worse. My prediction is 2 wins, 5 draws, 4 defeats, 9th place finish and Buckingham sacked.

Fair play to anyone going to this one. I'm surprised by how many we've sold!

Old saying, don't let the football ruin a good day out. Another old saying, win or (much more likely) lose, on the booze.

I am looking forward to it, not the actual game but the low expectations will help if/when the inevitable happens.

Why? I'm not. It's a good ground to go to - a proper football arena that generates a good atmosphere and has been updated recently. We know things are a bit s**t, to say the least, but there a hardcore of fans who go week in and out, to which you can add southern based fans and the attraction of an old style residentially based ground.

I couldn't bear going to Wycombe again this year, which is actually easier for me to get to, but I'll be there on Saturday as part of a good sized group.

We're at the 'have no expectation so you can't be disappointed' stage :ROFLMAO:

Prior to this season I did every away day I could, but just not feeling it now. Feels more effort than it's worth. Plus, I couldn't handle having to listen to that bell and being berated by 18,000+ Pompey fans as they tap in their 3rd :ROFLMAO:

I think that may be optimistic - since the turn of the year in the league we have won three, lost three and drawn five. Two of the wins were the first two games of the year and I think we have gone downhill since then. I was careful not to pick a time frame just to make a point! We have also lost two cup games in that time, so that W3 L3 D5 stat may be skewed a bit towards the positive side.

But if we take those slightly optimistic stats, 11 games have garnered 14 points. There are 11 games to go in the season, so if we replicate that form we will get 71 points (currently 57). That isn't going to be enough to be in the playoffs - and I suspect most of us are pretty resigned to that at the moment.

I am 45, we have been promoted twice in my adult life, relegated 3 times, not stopped me seeing us play at over 50 grounds in that time. If I was the sort of person with high expectations of the football club I support I probably would of given it up and been one of those dicks sat in a pub supporting Liverpool yesterday, thankfully low expectations saved me from that.

Why?
Do you only support your team when they are winning
They’ll be a lot of fans who are not prepared to go the extra mile for a multitude of reasons e.g. financial could be one, so add to that the extremely poor performances (not just the result) I can see fans choosing not to go. Fans go to support their club/team, but also want to be entertained, and despite the result to a certain degree, so if you’re really not enjoying it it might be wise to take a breather. I mean, would you watch the Masked Singer every week🤣 Now that is a form of torture!

No mention on the club’s website about the number of tickets sold/available for this game in the latest communication just now!

For the last 8 years I've planned my weekends around football. I used to cancel/change plans so I could go. While I've still gone to most games this season, I've missed far more than any other season because I'm not prioritising football the way I used to.

It's got nothing to do with winning/not winning - I only missed a handful of games the seasons we were shite under Robinson. I enjoyed it then even when we lost, everything about the club and the experience following Oxford in general felt different.

As you say, I'm finding the games themselves incredibly difficult to enjoy. I'd rather spend my time and money elsewhere.

Hopefully they go to general sale and OUFC take up the option of the extra 600 tickets.

Why did you only decide to join the forum in Nov 2023 (when Des joined) to tell us (over and over and over again) how unhappy you are?

I bought a standing ticket on Friday, now my 6 year old wants to go to her first away game. So hopefully I’ll be able to get 2 seats tickets tomorrow morning. May then have a standing space ticket available..

I still don’t get some of the comments about not going to this game. Regardless of recent form we’re still in with a chance, we’ve had plenty worse seasons than this. Also Fratton Park is one of the final old school grounds where you get a decent atmosphere.
