Away Match Day Thread +++ 11/8/2021 Burton Albion v OUFC Carabao Cup +++

I`ve just watched Mous`s pen several times.............................

You aren`t stopping them, if you do you are in the back of the net with it.

Takes about 0.5 second from his foot hitting it to it passing the keeper.

Funny that.

DA could be more proactive though when playing wide as he has demonstrated in the past (ie. ie running at the full back, especially the likes of Brayford who he is easily faster/more powerful than which he doesn't do enough).

Sykes pen was pretty impressive as well. Saying that there wasn't a bad one from us.

He's already proved he can play as a wide forward as well as centrally so that doesn't work as a comparison. And running past a player you are far faster than shouldn't matter on position.
Dan has done well before as outside right but not on the left , I don’t think

And that’s the crux of it. Thank you for finally saying it. People think that because he’s got a bit of pace that it means he’s a winger in waiting. It’s no more complex than that. How draconian, like putting skilful players on the wing because they’re too dainty to go near the midfielders. Who needs to be able to make runs through channels and get towards the D rather than the corner flag, and who cares what areas of the pitch have the most space to operate in? He’s just fast at running and that so it’s fine. Brilliant.

We’ll overlook the fact that most of his contributions are from when he’s in line with the middle of the goal. The goal at Gillingham from smack bang in the middle of the posts, the goal at Rochdale from smack bang in the middle of the posts, the goal at Shrewsbury last season from smack bang in the middle of the posts, the fact that he got the winner at Swindon while playing as a centre forward and running through the channel, the goal against Chelsea youth when he scored inside the six yard box after the keeper spilled it, the knock down for Lee’s equaliser at MK from the centre of the goal etc. The season before when he ran through the middle of the defence to score against Southend, ditto Burton when he ran in behind the centre backs. Even last night, who was an inch away from getting a toe on Sykes’ cross that ran through to Holland? Ah, yes, the man signed and trained as a centre forward by a Premier League club, who was sliding in after getting on the shoulder of a centre half who couldn’t track him, like any good forward would be. That guy. The fast bloke.

Good news for Chelsea fans - Lukaku is back. He’s quick and powerful, bet they can’t wait to see him on the wing. It shouldn’t matter where he plays cos he’s just running fast, innit.

Alright Dan give a rest 🤣

Yet another penalty shoot out won. We have become very consistent winning 7 out of the last 9. Maybe England should have our penalty takers on the bench for the knock out stages of tournement games?

Wasn't Mous at Wembley for the final? Should have subbed him on and hoped that there wasn't another in goal!!!

Interesting that DA doesn't read this forum!
His interview before the game suggested that his favourite position is up front on the right.
I know that I am in the minority but I tend to agree that us his best position from what I have seen of him.
