National News Boris Johnson

Spot on.

How anyone can pretend that the current No 10 incumbent hasn't plumbed new depths when it comes to dishonesty and a complete lack of morals, or that this government is weak, ineffectual and flip-flops around on (poorly thought out) policy when the wind changes is beyond me.

The evidence is overwhelming and the stance is frankly embarrassing.
And to think that the public will somehow see BJ as reformed by the next election has no logic. Like asking a victim to forgive and become best friends agan with her rapist.

Another £8.7 BILLION of our money written off by this inept, amateurish Government:

And before anyone carps on about "yeah, but not but, market prices...." lest we forget that the government had ample warning in terms of procuring the right equipment for pandemic preparedness years before it blew up in their face.

And lest we forget that of the 379 Covid PPE contracts let by government through "newly created routes" (worth £7.9 billion), 176 of them are in dispute (117 of them, worth £2.2 billion because the PPE is sub-standard). https://www.nao.org.uk/wp-content/u...nagement-of-PPE-contracts_with-CS-Summary.pdf

Add that to the £11bn Fishy Rishi has spunked on paying too much interest on our debts:https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-61754394

Is it any wonder we've got the highest tax burden since the 1940's🤷‍♂️

Add in the failed test and trace:
So....£8.7 + £11 + £37 (failed test and trace) = £56.7 billion

That exceeds our entire annual Defence or Education budget.

Tories....the party of Fiscal Responsibility....my hairy ar$e :ROFLMAO:

Absolutely. Day one, page one at procurement school is 'know what you are buying and spec it correctly'. Yes, spec'ing a multi million pound development is a science but a face mask!!!!!???? There is no excuse. It's blatant incompetence and EVERYBODY should be calling it out.

Numbers on spreadsheets - its all grist to the mill.

Test & Trace also included all those testing sites, kit and staff - none of which was provided free.

Calm down its Friday. :ROFLMAO:

Thought this was all the poor’s fault? Have I missed an update?

Ive been told for years there’s no cost of living problem and it’s the fault of the workshy benefit thieves that spunk all their money on 60 inch tvs, blow, fags and porno mags

Prince William’s now selling the Big Issue!

I see parliamentary authorities have blocked an FOI request re porn access on parliamentary networks on "national security grounds". They have also removed record of any previous disclosure (which was just of attempts blocked - in 2015 there were approx 250000 attempts to access explicit content identified on parliamentary networks).

does that confirm politicians are a bunch of wankers?

I'm picking up a strong reading on the twaddleometer :ROFLMAO:

Don`t forget..................

£370 billion

Total cost estimate for measures for which government departments are responsible (where data are available).

£129 billion

The amount we know the government or Bank of England have loaned or guaranteed so far (where data are available).

£261 billion

The amount we know the government has spent on these measures so far (where measures have already been implemented and data are available).

And folk don`t think it's just numbers on a spreadsheet?

This isn’t a retort but just a confusion

I have absolutely no idea what you were trying to prove.

Genuinely bemused by this and either I’m thick or this is just an opening balance sheet.

Just the concept that "money" is created by chucking a few more 0000000`s on a spreadsheet somewhere - added to debt or whatever.

It's not tangible, nobody can see it, nobody can touch it, it's just debt secured against something somewhere along the line.

🤷‍♀️ 🤷‍♀️

So the billions of our money "lost" by our governments ineptitude and the billions trousered by their (now super rich) chums is worthless then?

Right-ho......good to know.....

Must remember to use that line next time I'm at the supermarket checkout or filling up my car "Nope I don't need to pay because this bloke on the internet said it's just numbers on a spreadsheet"

So no problem if the Govt pay the difference in inflation then as it just numbers on a spreadsheet. They can also just not bother with any tax on fuels at all. Cost of living problem solved by EY.

It's worthless if you don`t have it or do not need to exchange it for something else.................. :)

Sterling being increasingly worthless against the US dollar, with some American banks downgrading the pound to emerging currency status that puts it in the same bracket as the Mexican peso, is something that I’m sure Bodge and his chums have got a plan to combat. Especially given this is arguably the most at fault for the cost of living crisis as oil is traded in dollars globally, so having the worst exchange rate against said currency that we’ve had since the eighties is utterly catastrophic. There’s no way they’re just shrugging or pretending it’s something else’s fault besides economic mismanagement, carried out on the back of more than a decade of crippling austerity which prevents growth and investment.

Crude costs less per barrel today ($122) than it did in 2008 ($140) when the exchange rate on the dollar was over 2.00 compared to 1.24 today (1.20 a few weeks back), which only pushed the price at the pump up to around £1.19 as a result because the pound was so strong. The exchange rate versus the dollar was around 1.42 last June before we had even ‘unlocked’ from Covid restrictions, and even two months after the Ukraine war had started it was holding reasonably steadily at over 1.35, so those things can’t be solely or even primarily blamed for what’s going on.

Luckily we all got that enormous saving in 2020, when crude was $20 a barrel and when some people were actually being paid to take it as manufacturers had nowhere to store it. We were able to save up for when the tide turned because the price at the pump was so darn cheap. Oh…

Well… it’ll still be fine. There’s no way they’ll just ignore it or try to claim it’s all war and pandemic related because they have no intention of solving it, seeing as the government make an absolute fortunate per litre in tax and duty. Which they desperately need after needlessly setting fire to tens upon tens of billions, and to mask the damage that’s now being seen due to certain… regulatory changes.

Huh. Another American client paying their invoice all of a sudden. That’s literally all of them settled in the last fortnight since the pound went through another floor. Think I’ll have a KFC to celebrate.

Have a lovely weekend, and as always, vote Underwood!

And this is why your "numbers on a spreadsheet" argument falls down.

The government DID need to exchange it for something.

Lots and lots of PPE for starters .....because they didn't prepare properly, despite being warned to do so years before....remember? They ballsed that up

And lots and lots of help for businesses and workers to stop them going bankrupt/being still able to afford to live whilst they couldn't work. They ballsed that up too.

And Rishi owed money to service our debts - except he didnt get us a very good deal and, you guessed it, ballsed it up...maybe he should have tried to use the old "numbers on a spreadsheet" argument  :ROFLMAO:

So the money, OUR money, always had a value in those situations. It was being exchanged for goods, or given (and yes actual money) to people whose income had dried up (fraudsters aside) to pay for goods and services they needed to live.

And it is entirely down to a combination of ineptitude and the chumocracy ethos on the part of this useless government that so many billions of OUR money has been pissed into the wind, never to be seen again.

At least this government is consistent. Unfortunately they consistently lie, consistently balls it up and consistently look after the wrong people.
