There was me enjoying the reenactment of the prelude to WWII when my great uncle volunteered to join the British expeditionary force to help the Finns fight the Russians, and the game is ruined by one of those ridiculous VAR 2inch offside decisions.

Far too fine a margin for my liking. You don’t have to be moving very fast for a 6 inch movement to be beyond the frame rate of the camera.

It’s one of those VAR decisions that you chunter about and later admit it’s a correct call. I’d rather see someone score from a marginal offside call than not though. A bit of error makes for a more exciting game.

The law where linesman have to keep their flag down until the passage of play has ended though? Not for me, Clive. Too many goals are taken away that way. If it’s offside and you’re confident it is, flag straightaway.
