International News Black Lives Matter

Yes it was his arrogance. How dare black people believe they have the same rights as white people! The very idea of criticising the police - and on television too.

Black people should ask for permission before speaking , especially when their superiors like Cassox Bashamwonderland and Gary Baldi are in the vicinity.

We know they are all guilty anyway. The fact they insist on their rights just proves it.

Criminals aren't criminals all the time. Just because he didn't have them this time doesn't mean he isn't drug trafficking other times. Drugs captures are a bit of a lucky draw. Maybe 3 times out of 5 the person is just going to the shops and is clean you need to be lucky and hit them when they have them. Police don't just smash in car windows for no reason.
Exceptionally ignorant and wrong.

It was his arrogance that got his window smashed, just coming back from a racism interview and was playing up to the camera.......he is/was an actor ......no real story here, open the door and you wont get yer car window smashed, ok it does seem that the cop over reacted but if he had done what was asked then it could all gave been avoided......ive had similar run ins with the police and looking back although some cops are total wankers my attitude toward them did probably antagonise them (purposely) was that because of my skin colour??? i dont think so........
And this?
I've NEVER been stopped. I'm white. Hum

When it comes to interaction with the police then respect goes both ways.
You treat them with respect you get respect back.
You act like a dick then the situation escalates.
Don`t be a dick, because they are the very people you will want to help when the brown stuff hits the fan.

So reading the article sounds like a failure to stop then try the age old I have a kid in the car excuse. Don't see cuffing the driver of a car that failed to stop is racist. I've never been cuffed but then I never failed to stop when asked to by the police.
Why were they being stopped in the first place? It doesn't appear as if the police had or could have had any 'intelligence' on the people in either of these cases. No doubt the police will respond so it will be interesting to hear what they say.

Having spent 25 years working in prisons, I would say that it is very rare that respect goes both ways, but you do need to remain calm and professional.

With this incident, it is hard to know the context without seeing it from start to finish. If the police could justify the stop under reasonable suspicion then they have the right to enforce that where necessary. You can't just walk away because the individual doesn't cooperate. If they had talked for several minutes, gave clear instructions and explained what would happen if the instructions weren't carried out, then the actions to put the window through are fine (regardless of whether anything was found or not).

However, if there was no reasonable suspicion, no explanation and no time spent exhausting all other options, then the actions of the police should be rightly questioned.

With a grid of drivers from a variety of backgrounds, I can well imagine there are some who want nothing to do with politics and having seen the real goal of BLM, want to just drive their car. It does make me wonder how many footballers, etc, think the same
‘Footballers‘ and ‘think‘ - very amusing!

Nice to see there were 6 non sheep F1 drivers today not taking part in the kneeling dick sucking idiocy today.......maybe the pennys dropping ........ the premiershite i see are still kowtowing to the ridiculous BLM......WAKE UP ffs

I see @Essexyellows has intimate knowledge of how police treat black people.

Looks to me as though he- and a number of other contributors to this thread- have perfectly illustrated Professor Gopal's theories of "whiteness" as being not a colour or a racial category, (she makes analogies with the Brahmin caste in Indi) but as a marker of unexamined privilege, and assuming that everyone sees the world through the same privilege as you, and then getting annoyed with those who don't share your privileges for being fed up when police smash their car windows, or arrest them for no reason.

Some of us might be able to make analogies with how police make assumptions about football fans who are often not treated with respect by the police and sometimes the police escalate the situation.

Some people seem not to have the imagination. Or share the prejudices of the police.

Imagine what Officer Cassox would be like. Or Sergeant Baldi.

I have had interaction with the police, shockingly whilst in the company of black people.
We had no problems at all, they did what they had to do and off we all went everyone treated the same.
Maybe it is because we didn`t get chippy, ignore instructions and think our mere existence gave us "rights" to do so.
I have also had less "incident free" interactions with the police, mostly through being a bit of an a**e, and have incurred the consequences.
Play outside the rules, be a dick, don`t follow simple instructions............ pay the price.
Its the individuals choice how the situation will pan out.

That's probably because many of the conditions of black history are consequences of white imperialism. We've taken over the world and built the systems to suit ourselves. Oh, and Professor Gopal isn't being laughed out of public debate as much as she is receiving death threats and racial slurs. Because white people aren't used to being attacked with rhetoric like that, and it offended us. Despite the fact that there's no way that we're going to end up being in any way disadvantaged in the future due to the development of parity between races.

I definitely feel like it was a provocative comment that was designed to illicit an angry reaction, which she fully got. Just a load of outraged responses from us white victims.

"We"? I'm not part of yours or anybody's group.

My ancestors are scattered across the world and I would imagine yours are, too. I know that mine are from "ethnic minority" and poor white groups. I'm in no way any more or less privileged than someone like Lewis Hamilton and to think that I am is a bit silly.

It isn't just a binary thing. I'm white but I don't come from privilege and most of us don't.

I don't owe anybody anything because of the colour of my skin, and I don't treat anybody differently because of theirs.

It's quite sad that you're being made to feel guilty about something you literally have no control over or involvement in. Don't let Gopal get to you.

So Jean Charles de Menezes chose to be shot by the police? Ok..
The police had bad intelligence and they thought he had a bomb so the answer was shot to the head so as to render him unable to detonate the bomb, tragically he was an innocent person.
The intelligence would have said he was carrying a bomb which if detonated on the underground would have caused untold deaths and carnage, but the intelligence was wrong.
Not all intelligence is right, look at the CIA’s intelligence over Iraq.

But some never want to admit to being an a**e,cops do have a very difficult job especially in the US......its quite simple.....do as the cop says and you will not get shot.....ive only EVER seen one shooting that was inexcusable and that was a WHITE bloke.......??????? ........ i have come across a fair few arsewipe cops and have been taken to court over made up interviews etc etc so i know full well about corrupt cops.....but this is NOT a colour issue.

"I've bin framed, yur honour!" Haha, made up interviews? Per-lease. Everything is taped?!

More likely plod set a few traps which you walked right into, exposing your guilt like the plank you are.

As already highlighted ......... mistakes are made by human beings in very high pressure situations.
Mistakes in intelligence and mistakes in the field, but if you are dealing with potential suicide bombers then the mistakes can end up being fatal.
Maybe educate yourself before bringing in some unjustified, irrelevant squirrel.
