Transfer News January 2021/22 Transfer Window

We've done well to get a fee for Dan. Wish him all the best and thankyou for Swindon away! Has the physical attributes to be brilliant but just missing something for League One.

I don't think the time or effort was really invested into the development of Dan Agyei. From the start, he was seen as something of a bit-part player in the eyes of the manager and was never really afforded the platform to be much more than that imo.

We always had lots of options in his position/positions (striker & winger), which certainly contributed towards that, but never felt enough chances in his best position were presented to him and KR calling him out in public - even though not all of the comments were unfair - only damaged his confidence further, which I get the impression can be quite frail at times.

And, despite all that, he still produced some really important moments for us; those goals at Shrewsbury and Swindon really standing out.

It's best for all parties that he moves on - and we've done quite well to get a fee - but my belief is that he could thrive under a manager that truly believes in him and who is willing to invest time into developing him because I think there's a player in there.
Sorry. Don’t agree. I never saw any sign that he was a L1 standard player. Apart from anything else, appeared unable to follow any game plan. Appeared to panic when under pressure. Quick and powerful. But lacked control and and sense of players around him. Often froze when he had a chance. Totally unable to hold the ball up and bring other players in. A bit like Danny Hilton, except Hylton was a far better finisher. Every player finds his level. Once Crewe go down, he will never play at L1 again. Will be a a very decent player in L2/National League.

I'm guessing that we're trying not to show our hand too early while still finalising the last couple of deals before unveiling those who have already signed. Two deals have already been completed, and a third has been strongly hinted at. As a number of others have alluded to, we're not playing at this and I think even Kip will choke on his bargain bucket come Monday evening!

If they're signed why on Earth wouldn't we unveil them? Scrambled or fried Scotchers?

Agyei sold.
Cooper loaned out.
Hanson loaned out or sold next?
Mousinho made a coach instead of taking up a squad space?

Happy with these outgoings. Opening up squad spots for real quality & reliability for new signings now & in the summer.
Or potentially we switch to a 5 a side league.

Why would showing our hand have an impact on other deals?

Also, an opportunity that hasn't come along in countless years?

The odds of us getting promoted from League One this season right now - even if we bring in the signings that we want on Monday - are not as good as they were two years ago at Wembley, when James Henry had the ball at his feet and the goal at his mercy in the 70th (or so) minute of a 1-1 game against a pretty mediocre Wycombe team.

There's no dominant team in League One this year - like Hull last year - but there's a lot more good teams with big ambition this seasons. And whilst yes, we're in a playoff spot - we're also a long way off the autos (seven points behind an incredibly solid Rotherham team who've played a game less; eight points behind a free-spending Wigan team who've played three games less).

If we don't screw Monday up, and we can find at least 2-3 of the players we need without breaking our model, then we should be good enough to reach the playoffs this year. And then it's a dogfight.

But I really don't get this notion - looking at the League One table as it stands, and having watched almost every game we've played this season (albeit on iFollow) - that 2021/22 is our one great opportunity to get into the Championship, and therefore we should shove all our chips into the middle and pay mad fees for the current flavour of the month.
Who's mentioned shoving all our chips into the middle and paying mad fees? You don't need to do that to get decent players, look at all our rivals. Again no one mentioned it's our one great opportunity to get into the championship. Simply that, with the current squad and a few decent additions, and as you said there being no dominant team, we would be in a far better position in any play off we reached.

What part of "I'm guessing that we're trying not to show our hand too early" didn't you understand, Kip?
Yes I’m sure Kip understood that but why not reveal as our signings? Don’t think Gillingham n would be that concerned unless we will get a surprise in the starting line up to at Gillingham. Not try to show our hand to early? Who to?

Unless this means them being announced tomorrow and being eligible for the Gillingham game, this makes no sense. You have to credit Scotchers for turning the club not announcing completed deals into a positive.

Is that why kr is really not going to the seaside until the game starts, because he's in the middle of a poker game, and can't be disturbed? You would think the board with all their money, wouldn't make him go out and have to earn all his transfer pot from playing poker.
I bet he makes a right shark with all those facial expressions he does. The other players wouldn't stand a chance.

Totally not ITK, and you'd have to ask Scotchers, but my guess is that he wasn't referring at all to Gillingham (you're right...that would make no sense). However, if (a BIG IF) we have spent a massive amount on the two we're supposed to have signed, I wouldn't want news of that getting to the agents of those who we're still trying to land. "Hold out for more money, my friend; they've got more cash than sense".

God knows. More likely to be some weird PR thing but I know nothing. Just hope we get a couple of ‘good solid lads’ in rather than try to be too clever.
