International News Russian War With Ukraine

I hope this government are also sending excess supplies to Poland and such as they have said they are running out with the sheer volume of refugees that are crossing into Poland and such. They have said they are running out and it looks like Poland are doing a fantastic task in helping these poor souls.

Booked a day off tomorrow, dusted off the FLT ticket, and helping at the local Ukrainian centre.
We will be loading a couple of artics 10am till 2pm.
Start again with donations & boxing up on Friday.
That is truly brilliant Essex.

I'm not going to read up on this anymore as I'm finding it too upsetting (I know that sounds really lame compared to what Ukrainians are dealing with). I know it's hard asking people to dig in to their pockets again after raising money for Joey, but it would be amazing if the football club could do a collection for Ukraine, or offer any Ukrainians in Oxfordshire free tickets to games. Maybe it would give someone just a couple of hours out of emotional distress in the county.

Contrary to stereotype (?) Poland is the friendliest country I've ever visited. Krakow in particular was really beautiful.

That's where pretty much all the donations are going as it is "safe" and needed.
A lot of Polish wagons are being backloaded with supplies after dropping goods off here.

And for those who wish............ and have the space etc: https://homesforukraine.campaign.gov.uk/

This lecture on Russia and strategy isn’t the easiest watch (in Finnish with subtitles) but is bloody interesting.

A good watch and a decent peek at Russian pysche vis a vis the West and NATO.
A couple of standout moments where when they showed the very amateurish way they photo shopped the
Patriarchs 30kUSD watch out, interesting in that despite being so blatantly obvious about covering things up
they still have the majority of the population enthralled.
Something i will probably think about for a good while yet was the bit about tactical truths, thats actually really
fkd up, if its an acceptable part of Russian culture it makes trusting anything they say even more complicated,
its a double edged sword with no winners in the long run imo.
The Chinese have something similar to Homo Sovieticus going on as well, its another way of making it all about
them and us, it would be laughable if it wasnt so sad.

Not sure i`m ready for another hour long Finish video just yet but that was worth watching even if only to get
another point of view.

I’m sure they are so we as a country should send excess supplies to help them in the initial stages of the refugees crossing into Poland and the other countries. What they are doing is magnificent.

Scarcely a word of complaint from Poland despite taking such a huge volume of refugees. Massive respect to them.

And I'm really not impressed by the UK government. Bumbling fools!

And what really gets my goat is when politicians appear on TV saying how the U.K. government are at the forefront of all that is going on in terms of helping Ukraine, blah blah blah.

Not only is it utter bollox, but I also find it very disrespectful to the efforts of our European friends and neighbours.

Got to agree with you on that. I went three years ago. They’ve been really hospitable to the Ukrainian people, no doubt because so many of them are familiar with the horrors of Auschwitz, and don’t want to see that repeated.

Agree entirely with you @bazzer9461 .
Poland is doing a fantastic job, and we should be thankful for their mentality that allows this sort of humanitarian action.

As you probably are aware I am a Tory and will bite for no one else, but I’m totally embarrassed by what this govern is doing or the lack of regarding these poor refugees especially if their male relatives have had to stay and defend the Ukraine, and them not knowing if they will be alive when this is all done and dusted.

Edit: If Boris is still the leader of the Conservatives ar the next election…..I won’t be voting or if it becomes a legal requirement I will spoil the paper.

Has anyone been watching Tony and Sabrina Edge on Sky News and BBC News? They have offered to put up a Ukrainian family at their house in Yorkshire. They are very good friends of mine and it is a magnanimous gesture on their part, that makes me honoured to know them.
They told me tonight they are on TV again tomorrow. I’m sure with their background they will be Co-ordinating efforts across the country

Michael Gove was on the telly the other day. He spent much of the interview saying (lying) how our efforts were the best in Europe, the quickest in Europe, the most humanitarian in Europe. When he was then challenged about how much the Government had actually done, he had the gall to say 'it's not a competition, you know' to the interviewer.

As you say, it's is very frustrating - especially when the same people are getting all righteous about the spin being put on things by the Russians!*

*Yes, I know there is a difference in degree!
