He’s smashing it, his last ever UK performance.

Best Glasto performance of recent years?

Don't know about the best of recent years (I tend to enjoy the small bands on the smaller stages more) but there's no doubt that the chap can still sing, play and remember his lyrics (which cannot be said of some of the veteran performers this year!) and he entertained the crowd very well indeed.

If you've decided to pack up touring then that's the way to bow out!

There are few artists who can fall back on so many hits to do a set like that. Whilst the voice may not be as good as it was, Elton John can still deliver a performance.

I haven’t watched too much of it this year but did make time for The War on Drugs earlier today. Absolutely love them!

It was superb and a fitting send off from one of the true greats.

Fair play if he also played Glasgow on the same day as Glasto too.

A true icon.

My mate Ben has been his photographer for the entirety of this final tour, since it first started in 2018. I would imagine that the scale of what he’s been documenting will only hit him in a couple of weeks when it’s finally over.

I've voted 'No', purely because music doesn't fit in with such a rating in my eyes. If you like Elton then I'm sure it was great, if you aren't a fan then someone else would be your choice.

I didn't watch it, mainly because I was at MK Bowl seeing Muse at the time it was on, would probably have watched bits if I'd been at home. Elton John just isn't someone I've ever had the inclination to see live, just not my type of thing. Respect most definitely given for what he has achieved and how he's handled his career however, I can imagine he did put on a show.

They’re probably my favourite modern band, didn’t love the last album but the 3 before it were all great

I thought he was excellent last night, but the best performance I can remember in recent(ish) years was Foo Fighters in 2017.

Glasgow and Glasto? some going in your 70`s. :D

Justify - not my cup of tea.

This is "playing Glasto"......

I've said no purely because it wasn't. Now if you said was it a brilliant performance the answer would of been yes. I loved it what a way to bow out.
You did yourself proud Sir Elton now enjoy your well deserved retirement.

Not an Elton John fan but for a 76 year old that was some performance and, despite my non-fan status, really enjoyable.

I'll be catching up with some of the others acts on the iPlayer over the next couple of weeks (worth the licence fee alone ;)) but from what I saw I can't believe I hadn't heard of the brilliant The Big Moon before and I'd imaging I be re-watching my unexpected highlight .... Rich Astley and Blossoms perform The Smith!

He was very careful to say this represented his last date so far as UK tours are concerned, rather than any actual retirement! I suspect the US won't have seen the last of him, maybe a Vegas residency is looming (I think he did one before)?

He's got 2 gigs in Stockholm to go, hence it being his last UK date.

As ZTH said, he was quite cagey and actually said this 'may' be his last appearance in the UK - left himself a little leeway I would say.

If I remember rightly, he actually 'retired' as far back as 1977, although that obviously didn't last long.

With this vocal range and elasticity much diminished, he does have a tendency to sound a bit like Vic and Bob's pub singer on occasion but the band sounded great and it was only really the ballads where his limitations were noticeable. However, what an almost unrivalled catalogue of songs!

I'd also reference a tweet from Oxford Yankee, who noted that it was nice to see Rod Hull guesting on guitar!

Ena Sharples on piano and Rod Hull on guitar is certainly something ;)

Preferably doing a set of Radiohead covers....

He has talked about doing some album tracks at say the Hammersmith Ocean or a Las Vegas residency.
I think that he is fed up of doing greatest hits and of touring.
