As I said in the build up thread, we need a good performance and result in front of a big crowd.

FROM THE ARCHIVES

August 2022

Tyler Goodrham nets a superb last gasp winner v Cambridge in OX4.

Eight of those who played for us (as starters or subs) in that game are likely to be in today’s squad.

No more dossing about, get on the front foot and shoot. Attack them and keep the hammer down.
Harris to score 2.
3-0 to the Yellows as we find our way back from the wilderness. Ho ho f*****g ho!!

Hope someone has told the team.

REF WATCH

West Yorkshire based Tom Nield is the man in the middle this afternoon. He starting his refereeing career in Norwich and he was appointed to the EFL in 2017.
This season he has only officiated in 13 matches issuing 51 yellow cards and just one red. He refereed Portsmouth 1-1 Fleetwood
on December 23rd. His first U’s match was the 4-1 victory at Peterborough in September 2017 and his last U’s fixture was the 5-0 EFL Trophy win over Leyton Orient in August 2022. In between he oversaw the U’s 0-2 League Cup defeat at QPR in August 2021.

Boxing Day, big crowd............... we know what happens next.

However, anything other than a loss will do. :)

The biggest concern for me is our fitness levels. We seemed to be shot after 65 minutes on Saturday. Haven’t heard of any players returning after injury and there’s been insufficient time to recharge batteries:

Oxford United 1 - Cambridge United 1.

Please prove me wrong. I will gladly eat humble pie with my leftover turkey.

Can't see us getting anything from this to be honest. Cambridge in good form, us still without any strikers.

0-2 Cambridge

HOME BOXING DAY GATES:

2020 - U’s 2-0 AFC Wimbledon (behind closed doors)
2019 - U’s 1-0 Lincoln 10,115
2018 - U’s 0-1 Southend 8,978
2016 - U’s 0-1 Northampton 11,790
2015 - U’s 3-0 Exeter 9,683
2014 - U’s 0-2 Shrewsbury 7,502
2013 - U’s 2-3 Plymouth 10,049
2007 - U’s 1-0 Crawley 5,900
2006 - U’s 0-0 Woking 11,065
2005 - U’s 3-0 Notts Co. 5,626
2003 - U’s 2-1 Orient 9,477

2005 😭. It’s like many knew what was coming.

Don’t look at the table but at the form table. They’re going well but we’re middling our way along which narrows things up.

Still, at home we’ve been absolutely fine including all the matches under DB so far (despite what some of those in the ‘told you so’ camp say otherwise) so I hope we can do the business today.

It’s these physical sides we desperately struggle with. It’s not a DB problem but one under Manning and KR too. Good sides find a way to beat them. We can’t keep chucking points away against them.

Even with our current injuries, there should be more than enough quality to put up a fight, unfortunately after the northampton and Peterborough shambles, I dont think Des has the capability to get us playing through it.

We need to attack them from the first minute until the 90th no more pissing about with the ball at the back just attack attack attack.... As for the fans we need to turn up aswel no more sitting on our hands ( or checking our bets) let's back the boys

Cmon you f*****g yellows 💛💙

😀

Assume you’ll still be backing the boys even if we pass it across the back a few times 👍

Thanks Kip, that really made my Christmas. However should you be right, I suspect parts of the crowd will be getting a bit restless and noisy. Not the noise ECYellow wants to hear either.
