Away Match Day Thread +++ 6/10/18 Southend United v OUFC +++

I’ve been one of Robinson’s biggest critics but there comes a time when it has to stop. It’s obvious after what he said after the game today that he’s not going anywhere so constant sniping at him from the supporters is going to achieve nothing. It’s just going to breed negativity and disharmony at a time when we need to battle for league 1 survival. Let’s all try and put our personal feelings to one side, get behind Robinson and the boys and try and build on today and get points on the board from now on.

Normally a point away at Southend would be a good result for us, a bit hard to be happy when you drop to the bottom of the table and are 5 points from safety after 12 games. Good to get a clean sheet but even when we manage that are toothless attack is another problem to overcome.

One win from 12 is terrible, the game against Plymouth next week is surely must win for Robinson, massive for our hopes of staying up as well, you know you have had a bad start to the season when you have crunch relegation games in mid October.

It’s obvious after what he said after the game today that he’s not going anywhere ...
That is not his call - it is Tigers and the other 'investors'. And of course it isn't the supporters call either, but I am sorry but we are a quarter of the season in and are rock bottom of the table. I'm not going to stop saying he ought to go - because I truly think he has to for the good of the club.

Can't help but agree. KR should deservedly be criticised for our poor results, but the abuse he gets for any comment he makes (mostly via social media) is frankly embarrassing.
The amount of times I have read insults about his weight, scouser, clueless/idiot etc must be in the many 100s. Man needs some respect.

Back up this result with a win against Plymouth and it might just be the hint that KR has happened upon a means of making us more sturdy. Lose and we know it’s a one off.

We may not have lost today but it doesn’t appear to be a performance that suggests we’re capable of kicking on and winning though.

At least Swindon are treading water in League 2 at present. I don’t fancy them leapfrogging us this season.

Hear, hear. Was thinking along the same lines myself. Didn't see or hear the game today, and, as always I await reports from those who were there. Reports I've heard already suggest there wasn't much of a performance from either side. Our attack was still apparently toothless, but at least there were no catastrophic defensive failings and we've got a point at a bogey ground.

Next Saturday is obviously key though. Plymouth have stepped over us today, and most of our fans will be expecting an Oxford win. It would be hypocritical to change my mind about wanting Robinson gone, but no more negativity on here from me until the Plymouth match is over, and hopefully results will make criticism unnecessary in the weeks after that.

You’re absolutely right it’s not his call but he said the owners ( I noted plural) are still happy and supportive of what he’s doing when asked if it was his last throw of the dice. I think that ends any argument as far as I can see.

interesting that kr bigged up the fans straight away today

Ah - the old 'vote of confidence'! If we had a quid for each time a manager has been 'backed by the board' even as the guillotine blade was hurtling down towards his neck, we could afford to buy the stadium ;)
And I am not convinced that simply because the board has backed him that gives him a free pass - if we lost on Saturday and didn't get more than a point away to Bristol and Charlton? Do you think Tiger isn't keeping a very close eye on things? Should we not say anything because he hasn't yet been axed?
Don't get me wrong, I applaud your plea for unity at the games (and TBF the crowd have been VERY patient until Tuesday) but shutting down debate about Robinson on here simply isn't going to happen.

Im 100%, as always, behind the team I support..... as for the first team coaching set-up and the owner(s), they've got a long, long way to go to redeem themselves as far as I'm concerned..... during a match OUFC and all involved have my unconditional support, however, outside of a match being played..... until proven that they are deserving of my loyalty, I reserve the right to hold, and sometimes voice, my opinion regarding those, who are, so far this season, in my opinion, the cause of the position we are currently languishing in at the bottom of league one.

Here's hoping the first team Management, and Owner(s), finally start to deliver on all their pre-season claims.... a battling hard earned 0-0 away today is better than a(nother) frustrating defeat, nonetheless, the first team Management set-up and Owner(s) have steered us to the rock bottom of League 1 after quarter of a season. And for me, that simply isn't good enough.

I think the crowd will be behind the team Saturday as long as we are in the game, it’s a load of s**t that they and Robinson have had a hard time, if anything they have had it remarkably easy. But lose/get into a position that the game is lost then a shitstorm is coming, you can feel it building up.

Saturday is a massive game.

Agree with this. Today showed, along with Sunderland and Man City that we can stick to a plan. It wasn’t pretty or adventurous, but we didn’t give away silly chances and gave ourselves a chance.

Adding Mousinho in to midfield was a good decision, some extra protection for the back 4.

Plymouth is now important. Will the fans be happy with today’s display at home? Probably not. If the long term plan is to keep KR (at least until the possible involvement of Thohir) then he needs backing. No one is happy, but things need turning around.

Plymouth are a genuinely poor team, anything but a win and we will see a repeat of Tuesday. We will find out is a brief respite for KR
