Away Match Day Thread +++ 3/11/2018 Scunthorpe United v OUFC +++

Trying to find the positives, a good 50-60 minutes before the mad six; many of us would have taken a point from this one before kick-off; and also the fact that we did eventually manage to regroup and stop the rout in what I imagine was quite a manic and pressurised atmosphere before it became a defeat is perhaps something to cling on to as well.

Highly frustrating, but still a point, the unbeaten run continues, Mackie got his yellow and two more winnable cup games then two games against teams around the bottom to come to enable the rebuild to continue......

2 points lost, even tho with haven’t conceded too many goals lately I have felt we have made mistakes in defence but have got away with it, today we were found out, we give away too many corners and free kicks in dangerous places and today we were punished
Gutted tho

Hopefully people don't overreact too much, there's no way KR can be blamed for a 6 minute capitulation.

Well I'd like to see the highlights...

...but I thought the free-kick decision for the second goal was lousy....Brannagan CLEARLY wins the ball, whether or not the Scunthorpe fellah falls over a trailing leg then is irrelevant. To book him into the bargain was ridiculous.

So that can be pinned on poor luck.

Ok I have only just tuned in so I'm not as emotionally compromised as someone who had to sit through that 6 minute spell, and I feel that I can make something of an objective observation. Obviously unbelievably disappointing, but I would argue that the fact that we were 3-0 up says much more about us as a team than one freak 6 minute spell. Those spells happen occasionally in football and are brilliant/disappointing, but don't ultimately mean much. Look at us at Charlton last year - freakishly good stoppage time for us, and then we went on our worst run of the season. Let's continue the good run at home in a couple of weeks time. We keep building.

If we want to steer clear of the relegation zones, we have to win games like this. Forget the farce of them scoring 3 in six minutes from out of nowhere, this was a Scunthorpe side that had lost the last five league games, and were near us in the table. A win today could've seen us move out of the relegation places and level on points with Scunthorpe, but now we're still in the bottom four and three points behind them. It's slim margins like that that can make or break a season.

Playing well for most of game isn't good enough....concentration a must for an entire game. WTF happened? Inexcusable in chucking away 3 goal lead ....only 3 wins all season. Tiger & the board need to spend come jan, lets hope its not late to turn things round

Dunno what to make of this, I guess I'd have settled for an away point this morning but now ??

Kip will be raising a glass tonight along with his rather strange mate Farcical Fred

Oh no. We lost a 3-0 lead. This is a special occasion for them given the opportunity to gloat.

I reckon they will be going all out with a candle lit supper and then evening out with all Swindon has to offer.

My pre match view on us being a poor team hasn’t changed unfortunately and if anything highlights the weak under belly we have as a team. Hanson was a complete waste of money and our loan signings are crocks which doesn’t help. Still 6 unbeaten. Massive game against Gillingham now. Need an overhaul in January though.

KR composed in his post match interview. The extra 10 mins waiting does wonders for everyone

All our loan signings are fit except carruthers.

As soon as we kicked off after their first goal you could see we were in trouble. We were all over the place, shell shocked and just too fragile to cope. We could have easily conceded a fourth. We have to be much stronger mentally. Having said that we do have some very ordinary players at the back.
And if we paid more than 30 grand for Hanson we've been done!!
