Of course but that doesn’t mean that the Goodwin signing wasn’t terrible business. We could have probably signed him for 100k in the summer and his contribution wouldn’t have made a difference, that’s the point.
We needed help and competition to aid and boost our promotion bid, not waste 400k on someone who has added nothing in the second half of the season.
He’s not aided our promotion bid one bit, and we’ve shelled out 400k plus signing on fee and wages for the privilege, that’s the point really, got nothing to do with being 2 games from promotion, that’s a separate issue.
However you or anyone wants to try and play the Goodwin signing, it’s been terrible from a second half of the season help sense, would u not agree?
The real point is, we shelled out 400k in January on a striker that we have needed for 12 months+, with the expectation that he would significantly contribute towards our promotion bid this season. I sincerely hope he is a massive success in 24/25 and beyond, but the thing here is, he has contributed diddly squat in 23/24 for which we paid 400k with the expectation that we’d get a return on our investment. He's been signed on a 3.5 year deal. If he scores 20 goals a season for the next three then it's been a fantastic signing.
As it stands, him not playing much this season hasn't cost us a thing in terms of promotion chances, unless you would have expected automatic promotion.

As things stand no club would want to pay anything like 400k for a croc except maybe Salford. I’m not trying to be awkward, the facts with Goodwin are, as a Jan signing to aid the current season promotion push it’s been a disastrous use of 400k. Surely we can agree on that, regardless of what he may or may not go on to achieve, with a massive risk as to his future fitness and availability?
I admire you defending the indefensible. It’s great to be positive, but in terms of Goodwin being a positive signing in terms of the 23/24 season, I don’t think even you can spin that one.How much did we pay for him? It's not clear in your post
We did. Along with every other club in the top ten (at the time). He made the choice to go to Lincoln for personal reasons.I know hindsight is a great thing as the afterthought but I was disappointed we didn’t pursue Joe Taylor at the time who was banging in goals for relegation threatened Colchester when we were linked with him in January but Des rejected that claim yet went on to score double figures for Lincoln whilst we couldn’t get a game out of Goodwin (& even Cheltenham fans warned us he was injury prone spending most of his time their in the treatment room)

I’m confused, which bit of the post you quoted said we weren’t two games away from promotion, or was generally negative about the season, manager or club‘s performance this season rather than a specific complaint? You do know that we're 2 games away from promotion don't you?!
Definitely I’m not writing this lad off i just thought at the time Joe Taylor was the better option in what we needed a poacher/goalscorer, I hope we can get Goodwin into the right shape ready to get a full pre season behind him then hopefully he hits the ground running next season, as you said we’ve been a striker short all season Perkins wasn’t someone we needed when we already had our own teenager learning his trade in O’Donkor,Let's judge him next season.
Get him.fit and see how he goes
In my view we have been at least one striker short all season ( we have been very lucky that Harris has remained fit)

£400k plus add ons if we got promoted and/or he scored some goals. How much did we pay for him? It's not clear in your post

Cheltenham are laughing.
Obviously there will be those who demand the right to post whatever they want
Do you think that one of the many professionals at the club or the private medical care providers may have identified that surgery was required during his last 7 weeks rehab?I respect again that you kind find a positive from his signing. But for 400k it's a complete waste of resources again .He was needed in January with only one fit striker at the club .It was a poor recruitment .He's been signed on a 3.5 year deal. If he scores 20 goals a season for the next three then it's been a fantastic signing.

I would definitely question the professionals .These departments need holding to an accountability for continued mistakes. We signed 3 injured players in January, there's nothing great about that .Do you think that one of the many professionals at the club or the private medical care providers may have identified that surgery was required during his last 7 weeks rehab?

The club need to get more ordinary geezers involved, rather than the stuck up ‘experts’.I would definitely question the professionals .These departments need holding to an accountability for continued mistakes. We signed 3 injured players in January, there's nothing great about that .
