National News Sir Keir Starmer

So they'll do absolutely nothing of note different on the economy. Labour are unlikely to cut funding to public services, so the alternative is tax rises (which they are also suggesting won't happen).

The lack of any kind vision I find utterly depressing

Two sides of the same coin.

The political cycle is too short to facilitate a long term view for the economy.

Best bet is to stick with what we`ve got. :)

Demonstrating a complete lack of ideas by this Govt especially with Hunt's/Sunak's etc comments for years about Labour getting rid of Non Dom status being unworkable.
Yep and pretty much anything they've done to try and be popular has come from Labour's ideas.

The stuff they came up with on their own (and only because they were s**t scared of all the Bluekippers), such as the swivelled-eyed Rwanda fantasy, have proved unworkable, eye-wateringly expensive and really rather unpopular to the MAJORITY of folk.

They're just not very good at doing Government. And now they're desperately trying to salt the earth before their inevitable election humiliation. It just goes to prove they don't give a f**k about this country - only themselves and their ilk.

Rachel Reeves on the news this morning............... "we are going to clamp down on tax dodging and fund everything with it".....

So it begins, the vague allusion to the mysterious untapped wealth that will make everything possible that suddenly vanishes once the election is won and the tax dodgers need to be kept on side.

:)

Also Labour..............

Think this sums up politics about now.....

Reeves could start by collecting some CGT from their deputy leader on the sale of her Stockport property….

The hypocrisy of the Labour front bench is something to behold.

Still think the election will be far closer than the experts reckon.

Agree on the latter point.

Talking of hypocrisy, surely even you must see the irony of this being 'exposed' by a serial tax avoider? Having resigned from the House of Lords, he still has the gall to call himself 'Lord' Ashcroft. I believe as a non-dom he avoided about £112m of tax, against the £3,500 supposedly owed by Angela Rayner. A man who also talked about his donations to the Tory party being 'investments'.

You can promise pretty much anything when you know you'll never be in power and don't have to actually deliver.
You can promise pretty much anything when there's no obligation to enact any of those promises after election, too!

Don’t get me wrong, the guy is an a**e and has no moral compass, but there is a difference between tax avoidance and tax evasion, whether we like it or not.

Still, Labour will be closing all these loopholes soon anyway 👍

Bet they don’t.

Such a shame the Tories are not going to provide any kind of credible opposition after the next election to hold the government to account.

I mean, even if they do scrape to 150 MPs, they'll spend the next 5 years lurching between civil war and navel contemplation, whilst desperately trying to hold the whole nest of vipers together as some semblance of a party.

Useless in government, even worse in opposition.

Pretty much what we’ve had this past decade… only in reverse.

Indeed. Momentum only went in one direction ....and while Bojo fought an election on a single issue, he was delivered a humongous mandate....

And they STILL managed to royally f**k it up🤣

Well, let’s hope Labour can do better…. It’s really not a big ask 🙂.

Saying things haven’t got any worse is not an option, although they will need time.

Let’s hope the electorate show more patience than some have afforded to Des 😂.
