Away Match Day Thread +++ 24/08/2019 L1: Bristol Rovers FC v OUFC +++

Breathe people, do not give in to dispair, Give it time, teething troubles (we will be ok, as in upper mid-table) this season. Just need time to get players to bed into their positions and gel. 2-3 more games then we will see the team get its mojo. :)
And there was I moaning over our lack of signings during the middle part of the close season saying we needed them in so they can gel.

Ok, get inferior players in earlier so they can gel into a not so good team rather than plan for a team that might only get going in September but actually be quite good. Hey ho.

Crap day all round....u's lose, 3rd test not looking all that positive at all with a huge chase....and i got a damn parking ticket in brighton

Team that’s barely played together, two young inexperienced centre-halves and we’re not defending that well.

Response on here? Burn it all down!

It’s going to take a bit of time, we all knew that. Two good results and a few good signings raised expectations, but reality is they still need that time. Unlucky against Blackpool followed by two pretty disappointing results isn’t ideal, but the squad is there to have a good campaign this year.

Bit of luck would help, but most important thing is to learn from these games. Bit of confidence and there’s a couple of players who can take this league by storm.

Your right it just feels like S**t at the moment

Today really wasn’t good enough.

35 mins OUFC were much the side but as soon as they equalised there was only going to be one winner in my opinion.

What is the general consensus regarding the players, is what we have good enough to be top
6/7?

If the answer to that is a yes, then shouldn’t Robinson have more questions to answer?

It’s all very week saying the players have been signed late but that’s his job (amongst others) to get the players on board.

It’s something like 19 wins from 61 league games now since he took charge and that stat alone isn’t good enough.

If we give him the benefit of the doubt and just judge him on this season as this is now his group of players (you’d argue last season was too but as I said, giving him the benefit of the doubt) it’s still only one win from 5 (which is actually worse percentage wise)......

At what stage do you question if the manager is good enough to take this group forwards?

If the players aren’t good enough to finish that high and Robinson is getting the maximum out of them then he deserves every year of his new contract.... but I suspect it will be hard to find someone who believe this group of players are a bottom 6 side......

We are so powder puff in front of goal. How did dickie miss from 2 yards? Why is mackie never in the box or anywhere near crosses.

I’d start Mackie Saturday.

Eastwood
Cadden, Dickie, Moore, Ruffels
Gorrin (if fit), Brannagan
Forde, Woodburn, Fosu (if fit)
Mackie

Subs: Stevens, Taylor, Henry, Mous, Skyes, I mean Hall, Agyei & Baptiste (if fit)

If Gorrin isn’t fit I’d put Mous in there. If Fosu isn’t fit I’d put Woodburn on left and bring in Henry. If Baptiste isn’t fit I’d replace him on the bench with Long.

But for the last 3 seasons it’s always the same others gel and we don’t, maybe because of the lack of signings in time to gel.
The last 2 seasons Bazz. We actually had a very decent start the season before under Clotet.

If today wasn’t a good enough reason to keep Sykes I don’t know what is.

Team still lacks pace and fitness.

And how Robinson thought that was a good performance is beyond me. Yes, protect the players, but don’t cheat the fans.

Rovers were awful. When we played football we out played them, but when we turned to their style of football (crash, bang, wallop, as Dickie put it!) there was only one winner.

Also, at the minute I’m still unsure of some of signings over the summer.

Que Scotchegg!

Bit worrying to hear KR say the match on Tuesday is not wanted. Tiger has made the 3 year contract decision so the manager will be going nowhere.

Ok I will give you that but his tenure after that decent start was poor and tbf to Robbo he managed a miracle that season but lately it’s been very poor, I would like to think this will addressed immediately.

“Doesn't look like you actually attend games, oh and gripper said unless you give ‘im your best conker, he’s going to start taking more of your pocket money, and each time you dare miss an Oxford game, and say you are an Oxford fan, Doyle will sort you out.
Another one who doesn't attend games. Means to me your opinion is irrelevant.
