You are right
@Malc , it has becomes unnecessarily undignified and I'll certainly be aware of how I post in the future.
I will however take one moment to explain my position, and what I know and will leave others to make their own judgements without it becoming another petty argument.
I'm not as ITK as some assume, and I'm certainly not the voice of the club on here. I'm sure with people like Zaki at the club doing so much to communicate in such a positive fashion, the last thing they would need is someone like me screwing things up. However, I do get bits of information from time to time, and like with a jigsaw, you can often work out the general picture without all the pieces, even if some specific detail is lost.
With regard to the stadium plans, I do know that some serious work has been put in to find suitable sites and to work with all relevant authorities. The ideal situation is to get a stadium which can bring in revenue all year round, which is why retail and leisure facilities will definitely be included, and very likely a hotel too. All plans are of course subject to approval, but developments of this nature are not impossible and there are very experienced people on board to make this very possible. All of this is fairly generic and I can't and won't evidence specifics, but I think some would be genuinely surprised with how far things have already progressed.
As for sites, I've heard a couple of places which I believe are most likely. I won't say where, but it won't be Bicester. It simply doesn't fit with the image the club are pursuing with the explicit marketing of the Oxford brand, or the image of Bicester Village as a chic shopping experience. However, there are millions of tourists who go through BV every year and I wouldn't be surprised if there were some links to encourage tourists to add football to the wider tourist experience, especially with those from south east asia.
The club and NM specifically have said that we could expect some more substantial news by the end of this season. I have absolutely no reason to doubt this, although I would have maybe been a little more vague with dates to buy a little flexibility. However, as with the training ground, these deals do not happen overnight. So the fact that we're maybe looking at 6 months or so before finding out more shows how seriously the club are taking this.
And I think we should soon see that Tiger and co. are here for the long term and really are putting the club and the community at the centre of what they do. That's not to say that they wouldn't expect to make a few quid, but that's what serious businessmen do. Their success will be our success, and they would expect to be able to finance the club as a sustainable Championship club for the long term.
But of course, it's only a year since we were struggling to balance the books so it's understandable that many want to see something more tangible than a few posts on an internet forum. Action speak louder than words, but these actions will take a little longer to be seen.
So, I'll leave it for others to judge where we are and whether this will ever come to fruition. But I won't bore you any further by banging the same drum. I'll be on the Sunderland thread mocking Charlie instead!!!
