Home Match Day Thread +++ 14/1/2020 OUFC V Ipswich Town L1 +++

After last Saturday,, a draw is fine , I’ve would take that before the game. Move on to the next game...

It sounded like weather conditions were so dire that neither side could show what they're capable of. 0 0 sounds like reasonable result all thongs considered, and no reason to panic.

Don’t really get this logic, if we’d won on Saturday then a draw wouldn’t be fine?! Generally you take a draw after a win or vice versa

Wasn’t able to watch tonight - did we play a 4231 or a 41221? If the latter, how did Browne do at CM?

Agree with the comments that we haven’t looked at our best recently (despite having not seen tonight) but, as with last season and our spectacularly poor run of form almost directly correlating with Eastwood being out of the team, this has been a period where we’ve not had Brannagan or Henry for the majority. No reason to panic at all imo. Reading these posts, seems the new boys have done as well as they did on Saturday, and we’ve just had one of the most difficult run of games possible in this league imo. Keep the faith.

Ipswich looked a solid team. They loved playing the long ball to bypass our midfield. We broke through them a number of times but the final ball let us down. Too many overhit passes or touches today. Fosu probably had our best chance but overhit it when it would have been a one on one. Browne should have played in Taylor who would have been clean through. Thought the defence played well today in tough conditions. Draw probably a fair result but we had the better half chances.

Clean sheet and a point we would have all taken. When conditions are that awful, it can become a total lottery and I’d sooner secure a 0-0 than gamble on trying to take more and coming away with nothing.

The only downside is that everyone around us will be saying ‘good result that’ as neither us nor Ipswich have pulled away from the game in hand.

We are struggling for goals in the last few months. Think its 5 goals in the last 8 league matches. Something we need to address if we are going to make the play offs or above.

Ridiculous decision to take the teams off imo,like watching a sunday league game in the 1st half.......Ipswich were sh1te and we dropped 2 points there,Holland did feck all all game and shouldve been subbed before he was....at least we didnt lose. we are only half a team without Henry .......

A weird game - we did ok in patches, they did ok in patches but the weather was the deciding factor. Can't say I'd want to watch Lambertball more than once a year - the whole thing was dreary like the manager and too snide and negative. Norwood is a comedian or an actor, the Ref got it right when Mous pulled him down - Lambert is too dishonest to imply otherwise.

Thought Browne was good, we miss Cadden and Henry out wide, we look ok, but not as incisive with the ball and it doesn't create as many opportunities. Bapstiste just keeps on learning and getting better; if only Fosu was able to get the ball out from his feet and move it on.

All in with the weather, a decent result but I don't fear them at all.

The Ref was ok, had some strange moments and got the added time wrong but for a young Ref, he did get rather stitched up by it all.

Thought we, Ipswich, were bloody terrible tonight. going forwards (bar one headed chance early on). Defence fought well in tough conditions. We maybe edged the first half, you looked the more dangerous team second half.
Referee was pretty good I thought, good decision to go off and get work on the pitch as it improved when teams came back out.
He got most things right spot on - better than the usual sh**e I've seen in this division.
All the best, see you at Portman Road
