Chairman January transfer window DIDNT lack ambition

how can the deals have been known about early January if the Board had told us nobody was leaving...On the 5 minute forum Karl told us he did not want them to and neither the club or players wanted to and then one of the board members informed after they had both left that we did not have to sell we chose too.

if you cannot make 5 to 5 Friday try Melton Mowbray..

The board never said no one was leaving. They said they didn't need to sell, but that didn't mean that they wouldn't sell.

Fosu, we had no say in. His contract allowed a deal if the release clause was met, which it was.

The club has a policy of allowing players to talk to other clubs if a minimum valuation has been met. In this case, Baptiste was allowed to speak with Brentford and wanted to have the opportunity to play at a higher level on much better terms. Once this decision was made, a deal was agreed.

Karl didn't want the players to leave, but respected their decision, as did the board. Once a player wants to leave it's hard to keep them so it then becomes a case of getting the best deal possible.

This is the bit that many can disagree with. Did we get enough for Shandon? £2m, £3m, more? Add ons? All a little subjective.

Since then, Zaki and Tiger have both explained the situation and also spoke about the deals we were trying to put together.

Because you don't believe what they say doesn't mean that they've lied.

Bidding a quarter of what the board knew was Columbus Crews valuation of Cadden is an example of that.

KR was not backed, regardless of what tiger tries to spin.
What fans want to know is what exactly are the board here for.
Talk of wanting to get to the championship is cheap, when actions show such a lack of ambition
We were quoted as bidding £500k. They wanted a million. That’s 50% in my book but some posters will twist anything to get at the board and KR. I find that sad and even pathetic tbh
indeed having worked at the club ( long time ago now) and been a fan for way too long I feel the club is in a very healthy state overall, and far better than in my time there. Obviously the big obstacle is the stadium situation. With our fanbase , and with the size of our club we will always have to sell at big profit to be sustainable. Certainly whilst paying silly rental outlay. Indeed we always have. Aldo, Houghton, Elliott etc all went for profit and to further their careers.

Chill....You are right, £500,000 is 50%.
I'm simply saying what someone told me. I rarely know of anything, but this seemed quite plausible, from whence it came.
Agenda, ?. Saying we can win at Ipswich and other posts is an agenda?Travelling a few thousand miles this season, including a 650 mile round trip to Newcastle, is the actions of someone who has an agenda. Praising individuals after Tuesday is having an agenda? Reporting daily on the heated grass growing machine thing is having an agenda.
Two simple words my friend. Oh and I hear Canterbury Cathedral is the perfect place to discuss conspiracy theories still, following the murder there of Thomas Beckett in 1170....?

I am certainly not getting into a petty squabble with you. I certainly never mentioned any agenda. Canterbury is pleasant but I am from Oxford, born and bred And proud of it!

Yes I know, Henry and Brannagan back has given us a boost.
But we've seen Forde come in for Long and two wins are the result. I absolutely love Sam and think he'll still be an important player for us, but the brass tacks of it in my mind is that if we end up out of the playoffs it will be because we didn't replace Cadden.
Not a striker, not selling Fosu and Baptiste...replacing our right back.

With it being a 44 game season, I think the points total needed for a playoff position will be around 72. So a minimum of 21 points needed from the next 12 games. With the next 4 all being very winnable, we could go into the last 8 games needing a minimum of 9 points. Wycombe, Pompey, Cov and Fleetwood will not be easy but we might be able to put ourselves in a position where not losing might be enough.

So whether or not the board lack ambition, the players seem very focused on success and it could be a decent end to the season after all.

Others only need 12...14..16..17 and if pompey win their game in hand only 15

Of course, but there are 6 places up for grabs. I think Coventry and Rotherham will take the automatic promotion places which then leaves the 4 playoff places. Last season 3 teams had 80+ points but 6th place had 73.

This defeatist attitude is draining, why not focus on our results and what we can achieve? It makes life much more fun!!

It has to be said, Coventry are having an amazing season considering their stadium situation.

it's not defeatist it's putting a considered balanced view on things, no point just focussing on just what we can do without looking at the bigger picture..as i've said this last month or so we have made things more difficult for ourselves and sadly we can't afford to drop many more pts and still have to hope that 2/3/4/ or even 5 slip up.

Think ahead to if you were Wycombe,Coventry,Pompey you would be very happy to take a pt against us which then makes it even harder with less games to go, so my friend it it is not just what we might get but more what we hope the others don't.
