Manager/Coach Darren Purse

Good luck to them all and hopefully all have a good season. LBS has impressed me when I saw him at Youth matches.

I expect our youngsters to all be proficient at laying out opposition forwards at corners from now on 😂

Welcome back Pursey.

I remember being in the London Road for his debut. (Possibly his home debut)

There were two older ladies nearby, one asked 'What are they calling him?'
'Pursey' replied the other.
'Well that's not very nice is it?'

Stuck with me. God knows why on both points.

Welcome back Pursey.
That was an important game and he was sent off at a key time from memory.
Who was it against?

Not sure but I do recall him getting sent off once for an absolutely filthy elbow swung at the opposition player’s head. People in Summertown would have heard the impact.

I do remember on his home debut he kept passing into touch consistently. I turned to my son and said he’ll never make it.
Got that one wrong! 🤭

I have a feeling it was against Port Vale, but can't remember for sure.

Not the only one with a new job, was confused by the lack of reference to LBS until I saw this:

It will be interesting to see whether, when KR eventually goes, any of the other coaches are seen as good enough to take the job on.
It makes sense that when a new manager/coach comes in, they don't fire all of the backroom staff and bring in their own people, changing with it the whole club philosophy/ playing style.

Robinson going???!!! 😭😭😭

Please say this won't happen!!!

He used to have an old Escort Mk3 when he was at Oxford as a player. He’s certainly had a good career since then

Welcome back "Captain Cockup" , he always kept you on your toes for the 90 minutes as you waited for the cock up !!!!
Good luck with your new job.

I remember him more for going in Fifth Avenue with Mark Angel than anything else which takes me back, Oxfords premier nightclub that you could get in if you weren’t actually 18 yet and didn’t mind queuing for half an hour up some stairs.
There was some sort of event on at a car dealership near Rose Hill around 97/98, where a load of players made an appearance on a Sunday lunchtime. Presumably said dealer gave somebody very prominent at the club a cracking deal on a motor, and the players showing up for a couple of hours to bring potential punters in was part of it. Purse was one of them and spent most of the time trying to avoid everybody while looking at cars outside with his girlfriend. Think he was only there for about half an hour and then sloped off early. Bit of a Billy Big Balls.

What I remember vividly was the dealership manager saying that if anybody could correctly guess how many people could fit in one of the cars in the showroom, they would get entered into a raffle to win it. Cue players and onlookers alike packing themselves into the back of some hatchback. Seats down, boot open, limbs everywhere. Brian Wilsterman was standing around looking very confused, not really knowing what was going on. Somebody tried to get him involved and I remember several players who were already squashed in screaming in horror at the thought of him piling in for good measure.

At least I think it was a car dealership. I might have stumbled into an orgy.
