Sunderland Away

I'm posh and wealthy (and understand all the big words PC uses) if the smoggies don't like it, then let them revel in their uneducated shanty town penury.

As are so many of us on this board; guacamole & chips with a bottle of Blue Nun, eh?

But, a serious point on which the mackem (note spelling) hordes, unlettered and unwashed as they are, may be able to help us. In my circle it has been passé to refer to the team known as the "smogs" as anything other than the "rapists". A couple of views of Mike Neville's Look North or it's modern equivalent will evince the reason.......

Ah, my old friend - Sarcastic Hyacinth.
Are coming up to wallow in our sub culture?
I reckon we would have a laugh tbh.

Sadly my better half has just had hip replacement surgery so I`ll be skipping this one.
Not been up there since 93/94 when we won 3-2.
I would hope the hospitality is as good as I received a good few years ago at the Riverside......that was a "lost weekend" !
Another chance to knock a new ground off missed..............till next season. ;)

Like it. Mind, you never know although apparently we are going the whole season unbeaten. Going behind 3 out of last 4 games just a blip.

Can you point out to the Swindon fan please that we have 3 decent stands with a fence whilst they only have 2, a garden shed at one end and a decrepit, crumbling deathtrap that should have been knocked down decades ago at the other.

Congratulations. The end of that post describes the entire town. It should have been twinned with Looton years ago.

Sunderland fan in peace. I've always looked out for your results as one of my earliest memories of being at a game was when we beat you 7-0 and I also once came to one your games when visiting a friend at Oxford uni about 6 or 7 years ago (you beat Plymouth 5-1).

Firstly looking forward to the game this weekend and nice to see you have a decent following ! I don't think it will be as easy as some people are making out haha as you got a good result last time out at Burton and we had a tough game last week we did well to scrape the win from.

Interested to read that Methven seems not to be too popular on here ? After 9 years of Ellis Short The Don and Methven have been a breath of fresh air this season and our fans view seems to be overwhelming positive of them at the moment. What went sour for him here ?

Lastly good to see most of its been shrugged off as a bit of banter but its not worth even entertaining some of the tedious posts you see on the SMB forum as its nothing to do with football why certain posters on there are having a go.It is notorious for being full of keyboard warriors and is run by mostly by hardcore far left types who hate anything and anyone that they perceive to be an affluent or Conservative voting area (I've spent some time in Oxford unlike most on there and know some parts are far from it).
Most genuine Sunderland fans are banned from the forum and its now just an endless stream of attention seeking from the likes of Hank Williams , Janey etc or Newcastle fans on a wind up. I realise you won't be that bothered by anything posted on there just didn't want that to be your impression of Sunderland fans.

Good luck for the season hopefully you turn things around (starting after this weekend).

Blimey! And I thought the singing cowboy (hank williams) died years ago!

Does he serenade the Don n Mr methane with a rendition of 'your cheating heart' often

Haha thankfully not. Just a warning in case any of you have a glance on that board.

PS: Gipetto I'd gladly still post this on the smb unfortunately my new account State of Our Wes got a lifer a few weeks back out of nowhere I presume because I shared copyrighted video on a thread defending Wee Phillie. The Lionel Hutzz account you tagged is banned till next year, tried to signup again last week but the proxy failed so think I got rejected cause of my IP address (d'oh). Will be back soon enough though !

His slightly condescending, holy-than-thou posting style on these hallowed boards reached a crescendo after his failed take-over approach of the club which put out a few noses out of joint.

Although early days, he seems to be doing a competent job at Sunderland so it would seem he actually does know something about the game - naturally this is putting more backs out!

Methven reached pinnacle idiot when he stated he had money on us to go down last season.

At one point I thought we might, as I'm sure many others did. Putting some money on it doesn't necessarily mean you want it to happen.

His tone and sometimes very condescending posts is a big reason for many to have the view of him that they do.
