I don't believe for a single second that we have paid £900k - which comfortably exceeds the record fee we've paid for a player - for a manager.
"Negotiating compensation" suggests we aren't paying the release clause, so you're right, it's probably under those figures but by how much is anyones guess. When you factor in the Manning money I don't think it'll be major dent.

which makes only opening part of the stadium for an FA CUP match a bit odd IMO
Sure… one gets us the best manager in the process with the aim of promotion and massive increase in revenue and the other lets Jim sit in his own seat.

It's an absolute disgrace that someone at the club has leaked this information. I hope they get fired for this.
Surely their professionalism is determined by who they’ve told and whether or not we like the person who knows? I didn’t see the professionalism of any players being chastised for leaking the Manning news 20-odd hours before it was announced.

It’s really important that there’s absolutely no consistency to any of this.

He'd better be f*****g good. If it's an unmitigated disaster I'd expect heads to roll at board level.

Welcome home and good luck Des. 👍
Not sure why you’re so against DB? We’ve no idea what the compensation may actually be if it is him, and could be largely offset by what we received for LM.

Any of the 4 front runners come with similar profiles, having very little EFL head coach/manager experience. We also don’t know what any compensation figures may be or may have been for LW, AC or PM?

We are not in a position where we can offer a position to a coach who has no real experience coaching in England to learn his trade. We need the complete opposite. Experience, know the division, understsnd the level played at, as well as a doogd understanding of getting a team promoted. In other words a seemless transfer
Seems the board disagree with you if the Buckingham rumour is to be believed.

I don’t do much social media. At the risk of looking stupid (nothing new there) who is Tom Barclay? Is he a credible source?

Let’s hope for a return to Oxford United.
And he finds it a a very desirable des res

No real experience? He was employed by our club for over 10 years...

We absolutely do not need the complete opposite, and did Kieran Mckenna and Steven Schumacher have a good understanding of getting a team promoted?

Exactly this. The perceived equivalent level is, for me, an absolute non-argument.

On that basis then a good coach should be able to jump from L1 to the PL or the England managers job ? I totally disagree with this view, there's more to management than just coaching players. The leap Williams would be making is one far less than that DB would make. Williams has been used to dealing with your lower league footballer on a technical and mental basis, Des is coming in from, with the greatest respect, a pub league in comparison.

But pre that he worked in the Australian A league, winning it, with players that are better than conference and league two level, he has we worked with New Zealand national team, who have players better than national level and league two. Has years previously of working at this very club at the levels you mentioned.

Williams record at league one level is absolutely terrible, he basically turned a league one team into a pub team, not certain why he gets a pass for an actual relegation from this level on his record?
