New Stadium Plans - The Triangle - Planning

Massive positive that could mean the club survives or not .....
The sheep have escaped from the field!!

And you think my jokey comment will have an impact on whether we survive or not.

The plan should be for the following, and in this order.

1. Have the stadium ready for test events July 2026 ahead of the opening game of the 26/27 season. This is extremely tight but still just about possible.

2. Agree to play first few games of that season away with stadium opening September 2026.

3. Agree a short term extension to stay at the Kassam either for half/full seaaon for 26/27. Moving mid season would be far from ideal due to having different season ticket options etc (and I'm not sure whether this would get approval from EFL).

4. Agree a groundshare for a season out of the county.

I've no doubt that all options are actively being planned for, but we need to get planning approved before we know realistic timeframes. I don't think there is any benefit in showing our hand until we know what has been dealt.
Agree totally re your summing up, but genuinely believe if there is a season where we would be technically homeless (point 4) that some sort of deal can and would be reached for us to stay on temporarily at Grenoble Road.

There is no way Kassam will get planning permission for as soon as we have left in 2026. He may as well get some income from a temporary further ground extension than let the stadium sit idle whilst awaiting permission to demolish the site and rebuild, for whatever plan he has that’s been 25 years+ in the making?

That's option 3, and certainly far more preferable than ground sharing.

I should imagine Kassam will quite happily take an extra chunk of change for a year while he submits planning for the Kassam site. He'll have the diggers sat there waiting after our final game of the 26/27 season

Ah sorry, the Friday beers and whiskey made me miss what you covered under point 3. My fault, time for a strong coffee!!

Wouldn’t be so sure about that. The aquifers under the KS site are absolutely fucked. The water level has gone from five metres below ground to breaching the surface in recent months, which has never been seen since records began in the 1980s. Hence the increasing level of flooding that occurs when it rains, particularly in the corner by F&B.

If anybody wants to build houses on the site then aside from the fact that it’s contaminated ground, they would also need to install floating foundations on every single house as it stands, which is not financially feasible.

I don’t think Uncle Firoz is sitting on quite the goldmine that he thought he was until maybe a year ago. It is not some sort of development paradise.

This is a massive day for Oxford utd ,let's hope it happens for Oxford it self. You will always have people against but you have to hope it goes ahead quickly ,we need it built and hopefully the end of the worst person in Oxford utds history our friend Kassam. He's made enough money out of the club ,the fans ,the council and the people of Oxford. Let's hope its sorted and we can get to a more prosperous place moving forwards and becoming more sustainable on and off the pitch. We seem to have a good board let's hope this is more of a start to better things s head. From the day I sat on the wall and the players came out of the corner stand at the manor ,you could smell the tank leading the players out ,Clarke ,lucas ,Skeen ,Graham Atkinson I've loved Oxford Utd it's in your blood it was a crap ground but it was ours .Let's hoping this is the real beginning of a new era. COYY till I die
Hear hear

No, you’re golden. Stay on the beers. The night is young and this is a big moment for the club

Sorry if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but I couldn’t seem to see it. Is a huge factor here not the CDC elections this May? There’s a good chance the controlling group will change. The ‘progressive oxfordshire’ (LD and Green) could well get the numbers without needing Labour this time. Given there’s only one more planning committee meeting before the elections, and that’s in three weeks time, there’s a good chance this could be determined by a planning committee made up of a majority of Lib Dems and Greens 😳.

That looks suspiciously like Ferretmeister's handiwork. Similar language designed to wind OUFC fans up. Don't rise to it.
Interestingly, a lot of the comments by that person have now been deleted including the one about ‘not wanting these sort of people in the area’.

Shame as I was going to reply to ask them if they’d be in support of a campaign to re-instate the Cutteslowe Wall.

He would be there mixing the sand and cement before you finished asking the question
