Manager/Coach Des Buckingham

Think his analyst deserves some credit too, may well have been working at a distance previously but I don't think it's any surprise that since he's come into the actual building full time, we've opened several teams up

All in all a very lovely turnaround
I was wondering whether the analyst was making quite a difference

I am really pleased for Des. He seems a decent guy and it's great to see the attacking exciting way that we are currently playing.

Funny old game ,always like Darren Ferguson an excellent manager and how decent when he tells his fans it could have been 10. We were excellent and what I love about Des he will be telling the lads one game at a time . Just 2-0 Tuesday will be great 👍 But well done Des you and all the players deserve the plaudits, keep it going boys.

It took some time, probably longer than everyone was expecting but finally the players get how Des wants to play and are carrying it out to the letter.
We haven’t just scraped past teams recently, we are blowing them out the water!

When was the last time we won 3 games on the bounce scoring 4 or more goals and not conceding any?!

Fair comment.

Do you think Des will be looking for more possession, especially against the better sides, or was that his perfect performance today? I was amazed by the possession stat, it certainly didn’t feel like that to me and I felt we were in complete control with just 30% possession. It was the best I’ve seen us press today too, we had that drop off in intensity around the 80 minute mark but the game was in the bag by then.

Possession depends on who you play. Being comfortable without the ball is almost more important than when you have it as teams can go into panic mode when they don’t have the ball (this was why we conceded so many goals under Robinson).
Today we got it spot on. Sit in and let them have the ball but keep the defence high and press from the front and Peterborough just couldn’t deal with it. We didn’t leave gaps when out of possession and kept our shape tight. Once we got the ball though we made the pitch big by having the wingers hug the touchline and let the forwards drag their defence all over the place.
Today was an excellent example of how you play in and out of possession.

Click on his profile and then ignore, I did it weeks ago.

Nothing against people being critical but most of us know baldy and know he's looking for a reaction, just don't bother with him. Some threads go off the rails a bit when people keep replying but it's certainly a net positive.

Thought their right winger in second half looked quite good, probably the only player for them who stood out a bit. How bad was that keeper too? Some of his short passing to his defenders was terrible and causing loads of panic, our pressing was excellent though.

I'd be interested to know if those who have publicly stated that they will not be getting season tickets next season, or have lost their love for the club, have changed their minds in the last few weeks?

There was criticism of the manager and board for departing from the plans of Manning, but today at least shows that a change in style can be even more effective, and fits with the Oxford United dna. There's lots more work to do, but even if unsuccessful through the playoffs, there are signs that next season could be really special.

And off the pitch we are only a couple of months away from a decision on the stadium, and I believe that things are looking more positive than some were suggesting only a week or 2 ago.

This feels like we could be on the brink of some special times for the club, and whilst I respect anyone stepping away for whatever reason, now seems a strange time to do so.
