You know what I was referring to. We’ve been poor in many games, and should have cemented our place long ago. Northampton Lincoln, Stevenage, Bristol Rovers away an awful watch, and dropping two points away at Shrewsbury. Just two of those games we could be home, instead we have to rely on others dropping points, and we have to get a result at a resurgent Exeter. Who will want to finish their season on a high at home. Winning on Saturday is not going to be straight forward!!

Finishing outside of the Top Six this season will be classed as a failure.

Then we can all have our end of season assessment, on where and why we think it went wrong, and you and a couple of others can say why we were unlucky, and why Des will be good for us, and where he’s shown he’s the one for our future.

You keep spouting this nonsense yet are in no position to know what is deemed success vs failure!

Ultimately the only ones able to actually deem it a failure are the board, and I’ve seen no suggestion that they’re operating in the black and white world that you live in where if we finish 6th, it’s a success, but 7th is then a failure, my guess is that it’ll be firmly in the middle of the two

I think there’s enough of a track record to assume very few will be ducking the conversation!! I’ve no idea why it has to be so tribal and that’s the thing I have issue with.

My two pennies worth:

  • I really like Des as a leader and figurehead for the club. He comes across really well and authentic. If I was a player in the side he is the sort of manager I would really want to work hard for
  • We are far too dependent on quick wingers and where we have played well it's when RR and Tyler G have been effective in the middle as well as the wings working well. Goodwin returning will give us more options up front when he is fit eventually. I think he'll come through as a good purchase
  • There are still question marks a bit on tactical decisions for me but I think Des suffered massively from not having a complete team around him from day one and the injury crisis in the team was ridiculous epitomised by the Derby game on News Years Day. I'll also freely admit that I reckon Des knows more about tactics than I do.
  • Josh Murphy will go I think. He is looking for a new deal given the amount of interviews he is doing to put himself out there. Such a shame we only saw him at his best towards the end. He's endured a few tough years and I wish him well
  • We have the core of a really good side but have to keep those players and inspire them with the vision - Brannagan (obvs), Moore, Leigh, Tyler G, Brown and Harris are all essential. But there are plenty of squad type players we need to keep as well - Sam Long, RR and Billy Bodin. I'm in two minds about Cumming (so to speak).
  • We should let the following go with our thanks - James Henry, Marcus Browne, Tyley Burey and Finn Stevens.
  • Marcus McGuane - I have no idea about. I hope he finds his feet again. By all accounts he's a nice guy and clearly talented.
  • We need a stronger mentality in the team I think. Too often this season the team faded a bit and got frustrated. We need some wise heads to drive the others forward when the going gets tough.
  • AND WE NEED THE NEW GROUND
  • Finally, I'm still not over the ref at the Wycombe (Stockbridge) and the outrageous penalty given against McGuanne and then we didn't get one which was identical.
  • To be on topic for this thread I 100% back Des for the next season when it comes - hopefully in the Championship giving Bristol City a lesson in exciting football.

Fair point. Also inflation wise, two pennies doesn’t get you much. Got charged six quid for a pint the other night. That’s not Des’ fault though.

Six quid? Bargain. You should try going out in Thame for a drink, one of the pubs happily charged £7.10 for a pint of Peroni... Was glad to get back to Bicester after that 🤣
