If Radiohead Vs Blunt doesn't prove Oxfordshire is better than Wiltshire I don't know what does.
Always said they were a bunch of James Blunts.

Listening to the Amanda Whiting record @Big Ron . Flipping lovely. Thanks for that.@Eric Blair I'm also something of a fan of Mrs Coltrane and on that front, try the new album from Amanda Whiting 'The Liminality Of Her'. Features flautist Chip Wickham his 'Shamal Winds' record is one of my favourite jazz albums of recent years, along with the Floating Points & Pharoah Sanders record 'Promises'.
My mate founded China Drum
I try to like everything - more fun that way - but I struggle with anything by the smiths, and wind of change by the Scorpions.
Will check it out. Also enjoyed that Chip Wickham record. Really up my street. CheersPleased you like it! I also really like Greg Foat's 'Symphonie Pacifique', particularly the title track - it's 4 years old but a recent discovery for me.
We weren't actually, we were discussing lyrical content. Doesn't that post make you feel like a dirty old man?
You say that like it's a good thingSlightly different from me this morning, 5 songs I currently have on 'heavy rotation'...
Ikarus - The K's. Opening track to their new album, and a really good Indie Guitar blast.
4.5% - Andrew Cushin. Stripped back and powerful lyrically. Andrew Cushin is one to watch.
Adrenaline - The Reytons. In your face blast of guitar energy.
Read The Room - The Smile. Jitty. Edgy Feeling. Jonny Greenwood. What more do you need in a track?
My People - Woo. Liverpool band just starting out. They have nailed the 'Northern Indie' sound, hopefully will find a decent audience.
Well yes and no, it is easy to get wrong (Oasis), but sounds great when done right (Doves). You say that like it's a good thing
Do you genuinely not like Oasis, or just think they're a bit overrated? I can imagine you wouldn't like all of it but I reckon songs like Talk Tonight, Listen up, Masterplan and Cloudburst surely you like at least a bit?Well yes and no, it is easy to get wrong (Oasis), but sounds great when done right (Doves).
I don't like any of the songs you mentioned, nor any of the solo stuff. I do like 'Live Forever' and 'Supersonic', in fact a lot of the debut album is pretty good. The second album was OK at the time but has aged terribly. I didn't mind 'D'you know what I mean', the opener from the third album, but the rest of the record left me cold. Not liked anything since.Do you genuinely not like Oasis, or just think they're a bit overrated? I must be that annoying crazed musical fanboy because I think Oasis are unbelievable.
As a matter of interest, do you like any of Noel or Liams 'solo' stuff?
I think you should give Noel's "dead in the water" another listen, I think that's a beautiful tune. It's weird how much of a taste thing music is, and how subjective it is.I don't like any of the songs you mentioned, nor any of the solo stuff. ...or you were in to Suede, Pulp, Mansun, who were all more interesting than OasisI love the Masterplan b side album, better than most band’s actual albums.
Bit of an age divide with Oasis, if you were over 20 something when they came out you didn’t like them but if you were under that you were a fan, obviously on this forum a fair few have one foot in the grave so they are not that popular on here.

This is my chance to be on the side of the youngsters, I am running with it, at 45 it could be the last chance I ever get.
Ocean Colour Scene and The Verve were much better bands than Oasis or Blur.I don't like any of the songs you mentioned, nor any of the solo stuff.
