Not many from England's worst town there that day. You would think they woud be glad to get out of the place for a day.

I thought my comments may produce some debate, lots of contenders, Slough, Wiltshire Town, and that place in Essex that I cannot remember.

United ‘keeper Phil Whitehead plays his final match for the U’s on this day 24 years ago - a 3-1 league away win
at Carrow Road, Norwich (Windass, Wilsterman and Thomson with the goals).

Whitehead was sold to West Brom for a knockdown £250,000 the very next day as United
fought to stay in business after a takeover bid from businessman John Gunn collapsed.
The transfer fee meant staff and players could be paid.

United went one up after 10 minutes through James Henry before a low volley from Greg Docherty brought the score level on 68 minutes.

U’s: Stevens - Long Moore Atkinson, Ruffels - McGuane Gorrin Kelly - Obita Taylor Henry
