Away Match Day Thread +++ L1 1/1/2020 Doncaster Rovers v OUFC +++

Start of 2020s: Lose 1-0 to Doncaster in League One
End of 2020s: Beat Newcastle 2-1 away in the Premier League, sit 2nd in the table

Can you believe how far we've come? Couple of promotions, a few trips to Wembley, etc...

A clinical finisher to help take the pressure off Taylor would be welcome I reckon. Its a shame Eoin Doyle has already played for two clubs this season.

Has Fosu lost the ability to run forward, with the ball? He received the ball so many times and just put his foot on it and played a negative ball, back into our midfield. He looks completely off it right now.

Well that was disappointing. Taylor just hasn’t got his shooting boots on recently

An all round frustrating day. Cadden never got going and Fosu is so far off his game. It shouldn't matter that Brannagan wasn't playing, we had Baptiste and Gorrin but, Henry is not that holding midfielder, constantly moving out of position and drifting over to link up with Cadden and then losing possession.
The game has highlighted where we are deficient and must strengthen. It also showed that we need players to track back and cover.
Disappointing to say goodbye to Cadden with that game but, he will find it very hard in the MLS on todays performance, expect to see him back in the UK in the summer.

Very frustrating game. We absolutely battered them second half but paid the price for a poor first half where we looked lethargic and off the pace.

The problem is we had a front three today of which two are off form (Taylor and disastrously so Fosu) and one just isn’t that great? (Sykes)

Our two attacking-minded midfielders were great at times, Baptiste dribbling it well and Henry knocking some superb passes around. But Gorrin was poor, gave the ball away too much and slowed the play down. We were much better when he came off.

Both fullbacks weren’t great and again that didn’t help us as we didn’t get many good crosses in.

Agyei looked positive when he came on and
I really think he deserves more of a chance - he did more than Rob Hall, in less time.

Bit harsh Bob. In my opinion, we were cack today. Im sure we will get back on track, but we were cack.

We absolutely smashed them second half, but just couldn’t get the ball in the back of the net. First half was pretty even, end to end, but they took one of their chances and we didn’t. Put it this way, I’ve seen us play a lot worse! (MK Dons as a recent example!)
