Player Ratings:

Stevens: 4 - Looked shaky, made mistakes, perhaps could have done better with the first goal and nearly forced an own goal. Worrying

Forde: 5 - Didn’t really get forward, which is understandable, but also made some mistakes and his balls in weren’t quite at his usual level

McNally: 7 - I thought he was excellent overall, with a couple of mistakes later in the game. Lot of clearances and headers though, seems to know where to be when a cross comes in

Thorniley: 6 - Solid if unspectacular

Seddon: 7 - Another decent performance, loves to get forwards, has a great cross on him

Gorrin: 4 - I didn’t think he was very good, didn’t offer much, gave the ball away a lot

Brannigan: 7 - worked hard, was busy

Sykes: 5 - He’s too indecisive. Flatters to deceive

Whyte: 5 - Should have scored! Three huge chances, couldn’t take any of them. He needs to play though as he’s so quick, teams can’t live with him. Can’t wait to see him on the right! Seems low in confidence

Winnall: 6 - His best game for us that I’ve seen, superb ball for the assist and had some nice touches. He’s a bit slow though and once he tired then he offered very little

Taylor: 7 - Took his goal well and had some nice passes.

Subs:

McGuane: 5 - Yeah he didn’t do that well but showed glimpses, he was trying too hard to impress. Needs to start over Sykes for me

Holland: 6 - Did very little until he wriggled free and set up Whyte for a glorious chance which he really should have scored from

Agyei: N/A - A pointless amount of time to put him on for

No.

We have been absolutely hammered with injuries this season and an early change could have left us unable to field a full team come the end.

Bolton dominated the last 10 minutes of the first half and the 10 minutes after they scored the second, but otherwise it sounded like we were by far the stronger side.

We should certainly have taken a point, and would have got that and more if it wasn't for the missed chances. But not sure any substitutions would have significantly changed things.

I watched the game and we didn't dominate the game at all. It was end to end and could of ended up 5-5. No way we're we worthy of all 3 points. Karl got his subs wrong again though and if Agyei came on with atleast half an hour to go the result and performance could of been a hell of a lot different.

The day our limitations came home to roost. Our shooting is shite. Utter shite. As are our corners.

Very frustrating day as Bolton were nothing special.

I didn’t mean a sub, I meant change the formation or get someone to fill in just to last the half out. The commentators were saying exactly the same thing.

Bolton were defensively all over the place, it was crying out for Agyei with his pace on the hour mark.
We brought on Holland who is just as quick if not quicker than Agyei instead, and he set up our best chance of the game which unfortunately Whyte sent to the moon instead of the top corner.

Really?
Not Gavin Whytes,
He should have brought on his subs earlier when we started to have to chase the game, yes Whyte contributed to it without doubt but changes should have been made earlier.

Agreed, Sam Winnall stopped doing anything after about 55 mins (as he was knackered to be fair, he did quite well first half) but somehow lasted until the 77th minute

Yeh but we bought mcguane on before. Why wait so long after going 2-1 down to make the required subs to change the game.
