General Supporters Panel Elections

I don`t really do/understand the vacuous echo chamber that is Twitter, just read and observe. Thanks for the correction.

Is anyone willing to address why a genuine/legitimate supporter willing to volunteer needs two "seconders" to get past the EMG?
It's pretty standard for any election nomination and acts as a double check that they are a fan not just someone on the database because they bought one ticket 15 years ago.
Also, if they are going to be representing fans you would hope that there would be at least 2 other fans who felt they could do so and weren't just standing to beat their own drum.

Individuals should not publish or discuss any details of the meeting before the minutes have been approved by the Chair Kim jong-un

This use of language really isn't helpful. You don't see those advocating for it calling you Trump etc.

Is it really that difficult to see a scenario where something may be discussed but wouldn't be appropriate to be fully disclosed?

As an example, someone representing the needs of LGBT+ fans may raise concerns about a specific incident where someone felt mistreated. It would be important for those acting on these concerns to know the full facts but it may not be appropriate to put this out within the full minutes.

Equally the club may ask for some support from the council in an initiative that benefits the wider supporter group but ask that it isn't mentioned ahead of a planned announcement in the coming days/weeks.

Not everything has to be some Korean led conspiracy!

It's first of all, positive, to clearly see several of the new OUFCSP group on this thread. However.........

I still don't quite understand the 'confidentiality' stance, when this group is supposed to be dealing and helping find solutions to the mundane requests from the fanbase - after all you guys said it was a different remit to OxVox. I get the OxVox model, having to tread with confidentiality, due to the big ticket issues of the day, stadium, ownership etc but don't take the fanbase for fools by suggesting you too, won't be party to that information.

I still don't understand why Ashley Browne has taken it upon himself to set this new panel up, with constitutions, elections et al. His predecessors at Supporters Direct did that when they helped form and assist our Independent Supporters Trust for the past 15-20 years. Citing where a supporters panel sits in the pyramid of fan/club/board level engagement. Supporters Panels are near the bottom, OxVox are at 'structured dialogue' level and one removed from Board representation. I still haven't seen any reasoned response to that. Therefore, I still don't know why the need for both - especially as you can now hide behind 'confidentiality' to the people you claim to serve.

What have the Supporters Panel so far learned from the challenges of OxVox - membership numbers, communication, etc? IMO, you would have been better served supporting the Supporters Trust with your valuable time that you clearly will invest.

Whilst you are on the honeymoon period, how will the two exist when the OUFCSP start to move up the fan engagement pyramid model?

I also don't accept there is a crest of adulation from those within OxVox or the fanbase. I think there are people towing the PR line and not prepared to say what they think.

I really really do not understand this "supporter panel". Why do I purchase an OxVox membership for a new panel to come in and do exactly what OxVox does?

A supporters panel is now trying to elect fans to speak to the club in various meetings for updates etc, is that not what OxVox has done for years?

Seems completely pointless in my opinion.

OxVox I'd suggest is more about the strategic position of the club (new ground, funding/financing of club, long term plans etc). Whereas the supporters panel will be about operational issues for supporters, matchday issues etc.

So that immediately alienates any supporter who is not on "friends terms" with others? Yes it does happen, some folk interact with fellow supporters differently.

The willing volunteer then has to garner their name, fan number and "form of signature" by the 4th October 2021 and, if not, falls at the first EMG hurdle.

Why the rush especially when the EP says: "The election will take place during the close season with elected representatives in place prior to the start of the new season. The exact date shall be decided by the Supporters’ Panel prior to the completion of the regular current season."

Build in haste, repent at leisure.

Any reason why OxVox can't deal with the latter? They are already an elected panel of supporters who have volunteered to help feedback from club to fans and fans to club. They have the support of thousands. Could OxVox create a separate panel to deal with matchday and operational issues? I have worked with OxVox and the club in the past to improve the matchday experience and report a number of ground issues too whilst with the Ultras. Didn't seem an issue back then...

If the club has the deciding say on what's confidential the Panel's just it's mouthpiece.
They won't. Any thing they want treated in confidence has to be justified to the Panel's satisfaction. The Panel has the final say and the Panel (not the club) produce the minutes.
"the club will explain clearly (and to the satisfaction of the Supporters’ Panel) why information cannot be provided or must be treated in confidence."

Great call. :)

To represent a group of fans there needs to be some degree of interaction. That can take many forms. It could be the people who sit next to you, the people you engage with on the forum etc. But if a candidate can't get 2 supporters from somewhere then I can't see how they represent anyone other than themselves. (BTW the 2 fans can support the nomination electronically).

I have no doubt it is doable, but why the need and why the haste by the 4th October 2021?

Your quote also appears to have chopped off the part of the Election Policy..... "The election will take place during the close season with elected representatives in place prior to the start of the new season. The exact date shall be decided by the Supporters’ Panel prior to the completion of the regular current season."

And you omitted this:
4.1.1. The working group EMG shall manage the timing of the inaugural election.
