That was entirely as you might expect for a match between the team that is sitting as the 15th best in the division (them) and the team that (since a new manager was appointed three months ago) have been 16th best (us).

A result befitting two poor sides with a lack of quality in their ranks, just slugging it out.

But we're not a poor side with a lack of quality in our ranks, are we? We're a really well funded squad filled with quality. A squad that were p*ssing all over this League for as long as we now haven't been...

Many seem to have lost sight of that...

I really don't have anything against Des Buckingham. But with 5 wins from 17 League games, he's not doing very well, is he?
Spot on. Would be happy with a point today if we dominated Wycombe but we didn't and haven't dominated anyone except maybe Burton since des came in. We look average game after game

Yet we beat Wigan 4-2, and they are 10th in the form table ?

yes - the point you get when you've dominated games is worth more than the one you get when you are lucky to end up level after the first half but do better in the second half and are denied a stonewall penalty,

Remember that season we snuck into the play offs and were humiliated by Blackpool?

I fear if we do get in the play offs somehow we could get spanked in the semis again*

the odds of getting through the playoffs are approximately 3-1

Maybe 🤷🏼‍♂️? But it does become a bit of a lottery too.

In 19/20 we won our last 5 league games and still lost to WW who sneaked in with a spurious points aggregation.

Happy to worry about that if/when we get there.

Next few games are huge.

2 points dropped on Portsmouth, Derby and Barnsley.

Depends on your perspective, deliberately positive or negative, or do u say same points as Bolton?

Meanwhile Blackpool, Northampton and Lincoln close the gap

We drew with Blackpool (no gain/no loss) and today they did us a favour by beating Peterborough.

We still play Northampton and Lincoln at home, so increasing that ( already large) gap is in our own hands.

I’ll remain positive because anything can happen.

Lincoln are on a decent run, but they recently drew with WW 1-1.

We are currently in 6th place- which would put us in the playoffs.

Stevenage are 3 points behind us. Blackpool are 6 points behind us.
Northampton and Lincoln who are apparently "closing the gap" are 11 and 12 points behind us respectively.

Personally I’d rather we were aiming and talking about the automatics, especially given our league position a few months ago.

As you yourself said a few posts back it’s a 3-1 chance in the play-offs?

2 clubs in Pompey & Derby who get 19k-25k at home whilst we can’t even sell out Wycombe 20 miles up the road. That is tinpot.

We’ve got no right as a fanbase asking us to compete with them.

Bit extreme, in fact very extreme, so you’re basically saying the 20 best supported clubs should be in the Prem League, the next 24 in the Champ etc…

We may as well give up. Stevenage are performing miracles, but not as big miracles as say Luton and Brentford. How do they compete?

I too wish we were in the automatics but to be in the playoffs after where we finished last season, (and Manning and Co's walk-out0 is a substantial improvement,

Pretending that Northampton and Lincoln have the same chance of being in the playoffs as we do is disingenous

If we make playoffs this season I'll be happy. If we win I'll be ecstatic

With a proper footballing structure.

With owners who show their faces at games, with a chairman who is on the ground at the club constantly. CEO who does a proper job.

With a director of football & head of performance supporting a manager and his assistant manager.

That’s how they compete.

We have none of that. That’s why we are stuck as L1 play off team at best.

None of that is Des Buckinghams fault. The idea that Manning would’ve continued carrying the house to promotion is delusional in my eyes. It was always gonna go bad like this. The house is built on sand.

I was happy with top half and a cup run before a ball was kicked this season.

The club is miles away from being able to compete for automatic promotion to the championship.

Only the owners can address this which they haven’t now for a good few years

Agree 100% with you. Maybe I didn’t understand your original post that I replied to, but this one is exactly on the button, you’re bang on 👍
