Home Match Day Thread +++ 14/9/2019 OUFC v Tranmere Rovers Match Day Thread +++

Has Pep Clotet joined the coaching staff?!

I think it will be a hard fought win but certainly won't be as easy and some make it out to be. Mickey Mellon's sides are usually tough to break down and look to be robust and play off the front men.

Their defeats have come away at Bristol, away to Pompey and a home defeat to Rochdale. The only game they should probably of done better with is Rochdale. They beat Bolton's under 9's and got good draws away to Rotherham and at home to Gillingham. The aren't going to come here and just roll over.
I was having a look through their highlights from this season earlier and those results don’t necessarily tell the whole story. A look at the table also provides some context. Pompey, while great on paper, have the same number of points as us (albeit from two fewer games), so a loss there isn’t as unforgivable as it perhaps seems, while Gillingham have only 6 points, and were leading 2-0 in that 2-2 draw. Also, the Rotherham equaliser came in the 95th with one of the scrappiest goals you’ll ever see. They look a team that is still finding its feet in L1 and should be an outfit that we are looking to beat comfortably.

1 nil victory in this one. Henry. Missed pen for Rovers.

First time you’ve predicted anything but a loss this season (hoping it’s not just because of other people’s opinions about you) but you’re only a 50% accurate so hopefully this is one of your better days

Should be a win but not conceding is unlikely at the moment so I’m going for a 3-1 win

Tranmere's only win so far has been the easy 5-0 grab against the Bolton kids. That accounts for half the goals they've scored in 6 matches.
We truly do need to win this one. Let's do it!
And I see they mention there superior goal difference

Sun block factor 50 required and shades for North Stand inhabitants, all is good with the yellow submarine 3-1 win me hopes ??

Tyrone Barnett netted the first goal that against Tranmere on 18th October 2014 ( a week after the U’s were thrashed 5-1 at Cambridge ).

Alex MacDonald signed for Oxford in February 2015.

Seeing as how we are not in the UK, thought we (Mrs Lounger & I) might indulge ourselves with the game live on ifollow. Certainly paying the 6 euros went ok, just hope actually watching will be as straight forward!

Unless I read the OM wrong they’re predicting a team of:

Eastwood
Cadden Dickie Moore Ruffels
Gorrin Brannigan
Henry Woodburn Fosu
Mackie
I’d be disappointed not to see Agyei r Baptiste start although I suppose they’d be good subs to bring on.

I really hope I’m wrong, but I just sense a frustrating afternoon e.g. 0-0 scrappy game.

Now I’ve said that I know I’ll be wrong, so here’s hoping for a 3-0 win.
