Home Match Day Thread +++ OUFC v Accrington Stanley 25/02/20 +++

Robbo wants assurances about the mid-term and log term., cant really argue with that. Wants the money received for Baptiste reinvested in the team.

Some very late injury time goals tonight. Blackpool and Tranmere with winners, Pompey scoring their third, and Sunderland equalising in the 97th minute! Thought Fleetwood had done to them what Sunderland did to us.

Another great result!

We really are back firing on all cylinders again, and back in the mix, well done Robbo and the lads!

For god sake Tiger, do everything you can to convince Robbo that his future lies with OUFC!!

I think he's just playing hardball. Using Blackpool as a bargaining chip. He'd surely be mad to leave us this late in a season where he could push into the playoffs and further cement his reputation as a manager that can get clubs out of L1 to move to Blackpool of all places. No disrespect but it's very much a lateral move at this point - they're not a tiny club, but no bigger than us and not big enough to make it worth it. I think he'll be using this for assurances in the summer - presumably if he's not had them by then, he could walk.

fair assessment @ttg17, which I agree with .... but, it was quite late in the season when he left Charlton to come here.... the board need to stop spouting spin and be more open and honest in their assurances, certainly with KR

looking at our run in we still have to play 6 of the bottom 7 teams. We have a real chance of finishing in the automatics.

6 of the bottom 7, and 4 of the top 7 to play.

Basically, with the exception of Brizzle Rovers, we're now done with mid-table teams for the rest of the season!

Those four top-of-the-table clashes (Fleetwood & Pompey at home, Coventry & Wycombe away) are going to be absolutely massive fixtures.

Remember when everyone thought that about Wilder and he went to Northampton? Put it like this, if Robbo sees a summer of selling Dickie, Brannagan, losing Taylor and having to rebuild, versus going to Blackpool with their new owner, investment etc then its short term pain for long term gain.

It was a bitty performance tonight, bit fortunate at times, but equally, they were too. Their 34 being subbed said a lot about the night he had. 3 good goals, some good keeping, clean sheet, nuff said.

The KR stuff is odd. I can't help but think he shrewdly played to the gallery tonight, but it's fair enough to do ut. He made his point tonight and it's up to the Board to do what they need to. Maybe the whole thing is a roundabout way to play a little internal politics.

Is it only about having money to spend or is there an element of not selling our biggest assets too?

Maybe he doesn't have confidence that the board are sufficiently behind a promotion push.
And Blackpool are actually bigger than us. They have 1.5k higher average gates even in a poor season for them, coming off the back of years of protest. They have had many more seasons in the top two flights than we have, sadly.

His interview wasn’t particularly convincing. Sounded like a man who knew a bit more than he was letting on. I think he will stay for now but will be surprised if he’s still our manager come August.
