General Season ticket prices

In contrast to Oxford Utd down the road at Wycombe they really appreciate their fans.

And there it is! You could pay me £780 per game and I wouldn't watch that shower of shite!

IF, you're an Oxford fan then we are fortunate to have excellent coverage from Radio Oxford, iFollow will hopefully still be available, and there will be capacity for day tickets when willing and able to attend. Season tickets are the lifeblood of most clubs, but I respect everyone to support in which ever way suits their circumstances the best.

But supporting another team will never happen.

We are the same £780 didn't watch it on iFollow, it just wasn't the same. The way the club has ignored the fact many people have given them money in good faith, no one could have thought they were paying just to reserve their seats, not even a thank you. You would think they would contact those of us that haven't renewed to ask why but I imagine they know and don't care. In contrast to Oxford Utd down the road at Wycombe they really appreciate their fans. I would like to know how many haven't renewed.
WE ARE NOT YOUR RIVALS!!!!!!!!

Now b****r off back up the M40 where fat boy and the pikey will personally hand you your season ticket for another year of "entertainment"

The club would have literally lost millions refunding people.
I'd rather the club be financially stable and lose a handful of season ticket holders.
They would have to sell thousands more tickets to cover even a £50 discount on season tickets and this isn't going to happen.

But we've done this conversation over and over.

Mrs Lounger and myself are not in the "refund last seasons ticket" camp and, we have renewed for the coming season. However, it has, and is continuing to become clear that the marketing of this coming seasons tickets has been badly handled.
It is also clear that little, if any, thought was given to acknowledging the support shown to the club by all those who did buy a season ticket for the last season. If the club had contacted all of those on it's mailing list and thanked them for their support with the idea of putting names on the player tunnel then that would have been something, not much but, no financial biggy for the club to swallow.

Instead what we got was a bungled campaign from the outset. The U's cash got no mention, the £10 start up to the U's cash got no mention. The advertised "package" turned out to be a flyer in an envelope with a very dated script from KR, and for some very fortunate recipients, a so called "golden ticket" with a prize ranging from a trinket from the club shop to, we are informed, a free season ticket. (has anyone actually won a ticket?)
Included in the text of the flyer was the announcement of a special event, at the stadium, for season ticket holders. That got overlooked by most, good job too as the stadium is off limits due to the vaccination centre occupying most of the building and no event would be able to take place.

The build up to the season start is continuing to highlight issues at the club as to who is in charge of what. Where is the new kit? First pre-season game is less than a week away, what better time to get the kit in the shop and collect income? Instead, the club is now flogging off last seasons player kit by auction, for club profit, not charity. Non renewing season ticket holders have, to the best of my knowledge, not been contacted by the club to ask why. No follow up marketing to press home the frozen prices, U's cash and a £10 start up. It turned out that even the on-line facility was in difficulty and renewing nigh on impossible unless via the ticket office.
For 1893 club members there is an even bigger issue to come which I won't detail for the moment. (I'm waiting for a response from N McWilliams and the commercial team) Suffice to say that when Mrs Lounger heard what was happening she was inclined to demand a full refund of the coming season and not bother, however, we are dedicated supporters and determined to see some football this coming season. But, there is a bitter pill to swallow.

It is somehow ironic that of all seasons, the club decides that this one would be a good time to set up a "Supporters' Panel" to improve communication with it's fan base and, even more ironic that at I decided to get involved. It's all come just too late to influence matters to any great extent this season but, for the future I sincerely hope that we will have the opportunity to get things done the right way. (of course, I will have to be elected to the panel in the first place!)

Disagree on a minor point but a significant one: unfair to say the club is selling off last season's kit at a profit when it's really just offsetting losses.

My info indicates that
-Portsmouth & AFC Wimbledon did not market season tickets last season
-Burton, Sunderland & Peterborough are offering full pro rata credit
- Crewe, Ipswich, MK Dons & Rochdale are offering credit over and above £230 (the value of iFollow)
The cost of pro rata credit would have cost no more than £300,000 or so, certainly not millions! The above Clubs took that approach or, in the case of five clubs, a much more sympathetic/generous approach.

Sorry, we may have to disagree but, a quick google search brings up one charity auction after another and, right in the middle, OUFC auction for club profit.
It's just not right. It doesn't sit well at all.

And, just to be pedantic, I didn't say "at a profit" I said "for club profit" That means that the club would profit from the sale, as in, the income from the sale goes to the club.
The next thing we will see is the club prohibiting players from giving away their kit to fans, as the club wish to sell that same kit for financial gain.

It's wrong.

Pretty much happens anyway. Players only get a few kits each season with all the league badges and everything on. One normal goes to the kit sponsor and the others normally go out via the kit man's sale. Some of these have been linked to specific charities but generally I'm sure they are "normal" sales.

I don't think you were being pedantic and I fully accept the validity of your argument.

I was just making the point that in the wider context any profit the club makes merely offsets losses.

Absolutely, and in a purely business sense you are right. It just doesn't sit right with me. Many charities have struggled through the pandemic and many people have suffered with all kinds of problems. I just can't reconcile this kind of activity with my club. The same club that promotes well being, mental health and OUFC in the community.

ST's on general sale - shame theres no prices, or information re OUFC memberships either on the OWS announcement

There's a lot of talk of 'bad marketing' when people are dismissing people's genuine and nuanced reasons for not renewing. I think people are forgetting what bad marketing leads to. It makes 'customers' (i.e. the fans) feel unappreciated and disenfranchised. Season tickets are the biggest money-spinner for the club, so to see that they're doing such a poor job of promoting them is disappointing. I haven't lived locally for any of my adult life so I've never needed or wanted to buy a season ticket, but if I did put hundreds of pounds into my football club I'd expect more than a flyer in the post, having to pay postage on season tickets, having deadlines for U's cash and no acknowledgment many paid their money to see no football at all.

It's a truth that some have to realise that not everyone can afford to see that much money leave their accounts, and many people have other passions, interests or responsibilities they want pursue rather than going to the football every Saturday. So if the club wants to retain these fans they have to make them feel welcome, appreciated and valued. And it seems like they're just not doing that at the minute. But sure, dismiss it as 'snowflake' behaviour if you want to feel like a 'better' supporter and don't want to have a grown-up discussion on how the club can improve their relationship with fans.

You're probably getting confused with the poppy shirts that are auctioned off. This is a replacement for the kitman's sale that happens every season because most fans can't get to the club shop in person. It's not immoral to make money this way.

Too little too late but seems that they listened to comments about the fans wall. Shame they haven't simply put their hands up more publicly.

B*****s. Everyone who didn't renew, and indeed anybody who didn't immediately stick their tongue down the club's throat even if they did, is a fake fan and must be shamed.

I've spent the last week smacking my own genitals with a load of brambles as punishment. I bring shame upon my family.

Such a mess. There are also still a few arguing about the seasons before lasts refunds. The most worrying thing of all is that the club don't see this as being handled badly, even though quite a few season ticket holders have walked away at a time when the club needs all the revenue it can get.
Maybe "the marketing team" should undertake a visit to those clubs mentioned above, to appreciate the value of keeping loyal fans, through such gestures.
