General What is the worst town in England?

Jaywick is by far and away number 1 on the list, and probably will be for many years.

Always entertaining using Google Street View to drop in and see what you can find, looks like a post apocalyptic scene!
It must be bad, I remember watching Ross Kemp's Extreme World episode there (not bad going considering he is usually meeting Somali Pirates or South American Cartel leaders)

I've never been to Aylesbury.
Well apart from a random statue of David Bowie (because he played a gig there once on the Ziggy tour)...

Must be a few Yellows in Aylesbury. One of the posters on here is correct. Oxford is encircled by crap towns.
Oxford has less affluent areas but it seems like a good place to live.

Reading and MK really aren’t that bad, they’re also not very good but not sure they belong in this discussion when they’re miles ahead of 99% of towns for shopping, travel links and things like that
Coventry actually seemed like an ok city centre when I was there recently, but I know the reputation is not good so maybe I just saw the nice bits ha

Northampton is definitely a similar dump to those but without most of the positives I mentioned, but still way ahead of places like Luton etc

Being skint in some posh little village miles from anywhere with no amenities and terrible transport links is probably worse than living in any of the above towns, at least they have some sort of life and community to them. Although how no one has mentioned Slough yet (probably because it does have a football team anywhere near our level) I don’t know.

I grew up on the Oxford Road side of Aylesbury, started to jump on the bus for a never ending journey to the Manor when about 8 with my mates hence my love for Oxford starting. Just grateful I wasn’t born on the Luton side.
Managed to escape after 26 years thank God.

There used to be a fair few who would take the 280 in to games back in the 80s and 90s.

The six towns of Stoke-on-Trent take some beating.
I've only been to Burslem but that was number one on my list. I guess housing being cheap means you get good value for money there?

Some places like Slough and Luton might have expensive housing due to closeness to London and yet still be awful. What struck me about Burslem is the amount of boarded up houses and smashed up old factories.

I think living in a crap town could be great if there was a really good sense of community and togetherness there. That should be taken into account.

Gillingham. Grays. Luton. Northampton. Burslem. Crewe. Walsall. Bradford. Morecambe. Southend.

Not really much to any of these so normally get the first train out after the match and/or find a better place to go to before the game.

Oi oi hands off Southend. A prosperous place plus beach and pier!

It feels like almost every town with a football league club is a sh!thole.

I was less than impressed with Cheltenham.
