Average first half where we really just set out to contain and never threatened bar the one free kick. Did that well enough apart from the goal.

Second half, after surviving the first five minutes, we were much the better team and constantly looked threatening.

Dodgy start for Easty but what a save to really keep us in the match at the start of the 2nd half. Moore and Brown both had very good games.

GOD made a real impact - love his strength and determination. Not the finished article obviously but a great prospect. Joseph put in a real shift and a menace to them on the right. Browne looks a different player under Liam - totally committed to the cause.

Shout our for Fleming who made one great run to nearly set up a goal and then a vital tackle at the end.

Overall, the effort and commitment can't be faulted, Liam has them well set up and good use of substitutes today, and surely Port Vale are there for the taking on Monday when we really need 3 points with all the other bottom teams facing tough away matches.

Monday's game is so critical.

Port Vale have just lost back-to-back to Cambridge and Accrington; they'll be missing their holding central midfielder because he got sent off today and missing their striker because he's ours. Plus, we're all of a sudden organized and competent again. It's the game that should be the end of our winless run.

Win it, and I think we'll stay up relatively comfortably.

Don't win it, then we're facing three more tough games back-to-back, and I reckon it'll all end up coming down to the final day........

I was much happier with the game today. Sheffield Wednesday lucky to finish with 11. O’Donkor different player today. Browne much better. Kyle Joseph brilliant down the wing.
I hope we can sign him permanently…that would be truly amazing.
Lovely the penalty. hit with such venom.

.... Stevens scoring OG, will he play Monday and get one for us.?

Very well deserved point in the end. O'Donkor was a game changer and everyone else played a tremendous part despite a few dodgy moments. Ciaron Brown was fantastic from start to finish and Eastwood went on to make key saves. Joseph was unlucky not to be fed a couple of chances on a plate late on but we definitely have the potential to attack, create chances and score goals. Wildschut was the only majorly disappointing player today and Murphy could've done better but it was always tricky and tense tie and the first half wasn't great from anybody.

If we play like that monday, we can win.

Win against Vale and we go 3 points behind them with a game in hand and a far superior goal difference.

Sheff Wed v Accrington
Wycombe v FGR
Pompey v Morecambe
Derby v Mk dons
Bolton v Cambridge

All home wins in them other games on Monday will help with the cause too

Cheltenham v Ipswich aswell, an Ipswich win and if we get the correct result at Port Vale we could be 3 points behind them, still to play them at home and a game in hand too.

Still lots of twists and turns to come.

Were they?!
I wondered as I walked back for the bus why there were all the police and bloody horses going against the flow of fans. Please tell me with the barrier up and all that we didn't try and escort Sheff Wed fans through the passive leaving Oxford fans. Janine and co please have a look into this.

Just had a read through the thread. Firstly, I'm not sure we were as bad as some were suggesting at half time. We looked nervy at times, and Easty had a bit of a mare, but we also had some moments where we really took the game to Sheff.Wed and Moore's head a foot either side gives us the lead.

Wildschut and Murphy weren't great, but I don't think they were the liabilities that some were labeling them as. In fact, overall I though Murphy had a reasonable game and was more involved in the second half.

Easty knew that he'd had a bad half and pulled out 2 or 3 great stops early in the second half that set the tone for what was to come. Gats was excellent, but I do worry that he looks like someone perfect to bring on rather than someone to start the game. He links well with Joseph, who worked incredibly hard all game and both just need to add the finishing touches to become very good strikers at this level.

Browne and Brown were both very good too, but I also thought that McGuane was excellent but plays the sort of game that often goes under the radar. Brannagan was more effective too in the second half and was constantly talking and encouraging those around him. Moore, Findlay and Long were all solid at the back, although Long's distribution wasn't great in the first half. Negru looked the part when he came on and I'd have no worries if he started against Port Vale, although after his display I wouldn't be surprised to see Fleming on the left and Brown alongside Findlay.

However, the most impressive thing was how we saw out the game. I wasn't at all worried to see 8 minutes go up and thought that it would just give us longer to snatch a win. The Fleming clearance made my a-hole twitch and I wasn't sure what was going on with the drop ball at the end, but that aside we dealt with the last 20 minutes with a real calmness that can only be a good thing as we go through the next 4 weeks.

Turnips are better imo than tomatoes
Where are you from? Larnden?
I think we need to hiss/support players more. Make it a 3 ended Bernabeu - rather than be middle class complaining keyboard warriors. Put some heat on players - or encourahe them - if they think we just watch silently and dont hear the "care" then why would they? We need to move on from the KR/:LM debate - of men who stand and fight we demand. The boys we can weed out and give 0 more minutes .

This whole season about player management.. We have seen that great teams on paper aren;t delivering. Everyone has to be min 7/10 each game - pick the team by it! ?? One weak link maybe sinks the submarine but thats how you grind results. Then for the last 3, set 5 up front and bet 4+ lol Lets be prepared to lose 7-5 if we then win the next two 9-3 and 7-4
Larnden good effort not far of the family name

Good game and some real positives Browne and Brown were great. Murphy and Wildschut can’t see why they get picked. Some ref’s would have given the first penalty, but got away with Bran‘s elbow at the end. (. Why the dropped ball, didn’t get it ) Great effort from the other seven plus the subs put so much effort in. A good day out. Thought the ref did well really, kept the game flowing. Shame Stanley picked up three. Is Elliot out for Monday ?
Really? What were you watching? Her, or her decision making.

Random musings .

Negru played very promisingly.

Wasn’t impressed with the ref. She struggled to keep up with the play. Wednesday players also started shithousing her at free kicks, there seemed to be a lack of respect there. Not a good look.

Murphy and Wildschutt need to go.

Eastwood moved from zero to hero very rapidly.

Bannan’s goal superb.

Not overly impressed with Wednesday. Ponderous at back.

Manning makes subs promptly.and with a purpose. Good for him.

Crowd excellent today. We’ve got our mojo back.

Vale game is pivotal.

If Swansea didn’t accept the £750,000 offer in January I certainly wouldn’t even offer £500,000 in the summer maybe £300,000 but that would be it.
