Ainsworth gets alot of unjust stick on this forum I think. He did an amazing job at Wycombe, and was totally the wrong appointment for QPR.

He isn't the right fit for us. I think we all know that. But by all accounts he is a genuine, good guy. I don't think there's any agro toward us from him side. Unsure why we give it back.
I think that the way Wycombe behaved in the play off final as well as the cheating and gamesmanship Wycombe employed generally would be part if why he is disliked so much?

I know it can only take a 50 quid stake to swing it, but Williams's odds have shortened.
Could easily be Notts county fans after what Rueben said and thinking ‘well I might as well make a few quid if it does happen’ as a few said about manning and Bristol.

More likely Ruben is winding a few of them up. 🙂

I bet the bookies , are loving it .People betting on something they don't know about???
Unless they're in the know? The amount of times I've heard that one , from my gambling mates, only to be disappointed....

Oh definitely but someone obviously knows something for odds to fluctuate even if it is on a small level. I know all about how little money it takes to move these markets but still interesting nevertheless.

Who were the bookies favourites last time.?
Was Manning in the frame..?
I can't remember.

Dean Holden, Michael Appleton, Grant McCann, Johnnie Jackson, Jermain Defoe (!). Des Buckingham may have been mentioned then too.

I'm keen on Buckingham. He seems like a logical transition from what we had with Manning and we want someone who can come in and aim to work with the system in place. Atkins-to-Rix nearly 20 years ago showed exactly what a wrong appointment could do with someone thinking they could impose a style on a team not suited to it.

My old man always said when looking at greyhound racing form at Oxford BAGS meetings 'Always look for a young dog on the way up than an old dog on the way down'. Buckingham is a a young coach with a series of good jobs to his name, no failures to date and is trusted by CFG. He's my #1 choice.

There may be mitigating circumstances but the job Williams did at Swindon still looks iffy to me. They were a wimpy, insipid outfit under him. You obviously cannot be that to guide a team out of the NL (especially when pushing the moneybags of Wrexham so close) so he may have sharpened that side of his game up, but I have my doubts - which I admit are based on nothing more than hunches.

I don’t think we’ll be fishing in the same waters

I'm not so sure. Rotherham are constantly having to get promoted as they can rarely stay in the Championship for more than a season or two.

They may well want a manager who they think can lead their team to a League 1 promotion if they can't stay up this term.

I personally want Nathan Jones. Localish. Been and done it with Luton. Knows the league well and will have good contacts in the game.
