New Stadium Plans - The Triangle - Planning

I wouldn't , don't and can not trust Robey , he is a mouthpiece for FoFoSB
Who now seems to have gone off message.

Is this another sign that people are wanting to distance themselves from FoSB after their attempted money grab and the unrealistic legal challenge......

To be fair, this is not the first time KPC have raised a consolatory white flag .

Just going off nextdoor the anti brigade don't seem to be very vocal since it emerged that fosb wanted a grant. The thread on the kassam non story was literally just Vicky on her own

Whoever in fosb came up with the idea of of going cap in hand to KPC to get their legal bill paid by Kidlington residents made a serious error of judgement.

The arrogance and entitlement beggars belief.

Definitely in the public interest to expose this shameful action and yet, Interestingly the Oxford Mail choose not to report it.

Agree. A big mistake.
And although their credibility was low anyway, this must have damaged it even further.

It's not just the grant application that has backfired on FoSB, they have now had two bites at the same "Kassam bombshell email" cherry and no one has taken any notice. They also had the laughable attempt to support a charities application to use the Triangle site before that same charity quickly distanced themselves from such nonsense.

We have then had the computer images of what they thought a stadium would look like and the constant portrayal of football supporters as all being mindless thugs.

Their support has fallen off sharply since the summer and McIvor, Campbell and Middleton the fact that they're being ignored by all but a handful of followers. They love the attention that comes with these campaigns, the Radio Oxford interviews, the bits on South Today, the columns in the Oxford Mail. They all feed their tragic little egos and make them the star in some daytime soap opera. Meanwhile, 99% of those who's attention they seek have absolutely no idea who they are!

For the best part of 2 years I have been talking to various councillors from all parties about this stadium project. Not one has a good word to say about our Mr Middleton, and a couple have spoken about his fall from grace since his tweets were exposed. His reputation is damaged and his position has been hugely weakened by all of this. And once planning is finally approved, they will all go off to find a new campaign to get angry about.

The communication from the club and the project team has been rubbish at times, but the one thing they did get right us to not engage in the games FoSB and others have played and to let them destroy their own campaign themselves.

Ah but they still have an eye on the KPC communication budget. As you say arrogance and entitlement

The only attention they generate at the moment is between themselves and ourselves. You could argue that one person only should post to correct any misinformation. With several replies, we are probably only helping their social media presence (increasing their ranking - this said, not entirely sure how Twitter SEO works as I never visit the platform(!)).

Boycott the Oxford Fail (See Above)!

They don't post on twitter, Facebook they post but it hardly gets viewed by anyone. Next door is there only voice

Interestingly the Reading Chronicle version makes NO mention of the football match (which didn't take place until four hours after the incident) and NO reference to Oxford or Oxfordshire!

So 8 people from a different town, who support a different football club, a few miles away from a football ground and 4 hours before the actual game took place, as actual reasons against Oxford United Football Club building a football ground near Kidlington that’s incredibly weak.

Almost as if the two house owning, owner of an ecologically damaging business, “Green” party localish councillor is a bit desperate to find something to smear a prospective £100 million investment project purely to keep it away from his house.

As far as I can tell they don't seem to put letters online anymore so many of us are not even seeing that
A democracy will have a myriad of views, and the various, often opposing consensus is important to ensure balance. But their views are not representative of the consensus / people they purport to represent, and subsequently, they are just individual, noisy neighbours with individual agendas (I use neighbours, ignoring the geographical place where one or two actually reside(!)). Hence, they have become irrelevant. That is not to suggest that local views, and in particular the local consensus, do not need to be heard; it does but through channels and or people that truly represent them rather than a gaggle that only cares about their own self-importance.

And there are a couple who seem to think the 2nd coming of the “ email “ mut be true 🤣🤣

OM letters page/ comments online is where they pontificate and pedal misinformation too
And when you send a counter letter it either gets lost or gets put into the times which isn’t read by as many as the alleged 72,000 ox fail claims

I absolutely agree that the club never needed to get involved in a war of words with Middleton and/or FOSB. They have to look to be and actually be good neighbours to the folks of Kidlington and getting in a spat with them is a poor look.

However, that meant we as a fan base could do that and I’m glad we did. We were the ones that exposed his tweets (and therefore his character, especially his immediate defensive response) and we forced FOSB into an embarrassing backtrack when their grab for public funds from KPC was exposed.

This is why they should not be dismissed, ignored or left unchallenged. If we can help the club in any way by exposing them as insincere in their green credentials and willing to grab public money for their own ends and not those of the community, we damn well should be.

If they try any more tricks, we’ll be waiting again. You know what - I kind of look forward to it. We’re not beating many teams on the pitch at present. We’re smashing them past FOSB though.

That's all very well but how are tge project team doing in sorting the road closure/footbridge issue in order to get Cllrs Miller and Levy to ratify the lease?

I was on the bus to Kidlington , yesterday when we got the triangle/ roundabout. With all the road works, I heard a conversation about the stadium & the first thing they mentioned is the road closures on match day. Saying it would be chaos. Not trying to be funny, but this bridge, tunnel , road closure ,traffic is a big concern to a lot of locals. Not Fosb , but locals...
