Current Player #20 Rúben Rodrigues

I am.not particularly concerned about our players going in January ( so long as we are in/ near to the top 2)
Maybe a little concerned that Beadle could go ( we would need a top replacement) and maybe Mills.
If we don't go up things might be a little different
Beadle and Mills are both playing and getting regular game time. Brighton and Everton won’t want to disrupt their progress for the sake of it.
Perkins is the one that will probably get sent back/recalled out of the loan players.

Thinking out loud, but with RR out, might it be an idea to try GOD and Sparky as a classic big man/little man top two? Both have shown they can do the off-the-ball pressing so out of possession we wouldn’t be much worse off, and you get the sense it might get the best out of the both of them - O’Donkor can focus on having a physical tussle while Harris might get some knock-ons to run on to. Having a strike partner would also probably afford each a little more time and space, which I think they would benefit from. AND if you’re playing two wingers, say Edwards and Mills, you have guaranteed targets in the box for them to aim at.

We’d lose RR dropping in to help us control the midfield, but I imagine against a side as good as Bolton that would be difficult to do even with RR, let alone Bodin (who will probably start if we’re doing like-for-like changes).

Usually in that pairing one is good with his head and the other is a good finisher.
Unfortunately, both Harris and GOD are good at neither of those things.

Saying that, two up top has got to be worth a try sometime, but I'd go with Harris and Perkins.

The worst thing Buckingham could do is rip up the floorboards overnight and throw them in the skip. It would stink of panic stations to suddenly go “four four f*****g two” and giving it the old big man, little man routine. The players have got one training session before they play the team top of the league - it would be a sure fire way to show them that he’s got no composure and is already flapping around desperately.

Edwards will most likely come in for Rodrigues and Bodin will move to 10. Wouldn’t be surprising to see Goodrham or Murphy start instead of Mills, and Moore will slot back in for Negru. Otherwise it’ll probably be as you were. There’s a cup game and a full week of training coming up before Peterborough, so if he wants to change things that’s when to start doing it.

It would be good to see Murphy and Edwards start however Murphy looked good on the left and when he went to the right he wasn’t as effective. It’s certainly is a dilemma not sure if Leigh is fit to be back but those three and Moore back could be the icing on the cake so to speak.

Agree with Ryan that fundamentally changing how you play after one bad result is never a good move and reeks of panic, but I'm also curious as to where this idea that GOD is good at pressing has come from. If the ball is nearby and he's got a sniff of getting it he'll battle well but doing shuttle runs closing defenders down absolutely isn't his game, we're lucky to get much more than a slow jog out of him in those circumstances.

Is Des a disciplinarian? Sone sort of action needs to be taken after Ruben got one booking for dissent and the second for stupid pull after already being booked.

What are you expecting? Ruben had a fairly average game yesterday but has been excellent in recent weeks. He will know that he made a mistake yesterday but let's not turn him into the latest scapegoat.

Do bookings for dissent still warrant a fine? They should do.

Maybe we should fine the team for losing too. That is always a good way to get the best out of your players!

Only if they verbally abused the ref and behaved petulantly too. Don't fine him for missing a sitter, that's football.

You can see Rodrigues is pulling the Cheltenham player’s shirt here as it’s visibly coming away from his body, right as he’s turning past him with the ball. It’s a deliberate foul to prevent a break towards goal and an easy yellow. Given he had no reason to lose the ball in the first place it was all very silly.

A fabulous player but one who showed a bit of naivety and inexperience yesterday. Hopefully he learns from that.

but isnt shirt pulling no longer an infringement of the rules/laws of the game?- seriously there seems to be zero consistency from match officials on shirtpulling , its rarely, if ever, even given as a foul, even if its blatant.
