Thought i’d start the build-up thread as we’re a week away from Des’ first game in charge.
Excited to see how we line up. I would expect we’ll pick one of our 3 starting formations - 4231, 3421 or the hybrid/both where we defend with 4 at the back and attack with 3 at the back.

I’ll post more stats later, but it’s second vs second bottom.

First win under DBs tenure , 1-3
Agree but they score first leading to an uneasy ten minutes before class and pedigree shine through.

Thinking about going and getting tickets for the home end. Being a 46 year old man I'll be polite and respectful and keep my mouth buttoned if/when Harris bags his hattrick.

Going in the wrong end is something every fan needs to do once! A rite of passage for a fan!

If we have Thorniley and Negru waiting to come in then I wouldn't call our defensive options limited to be honest. That's two excellent replacements to be able to bring in.
Sure.

We’d have no senior defensive option on the bench, though.

Despite all the positivity about and the fact we are flying / Cheltenham are in real trouble I actually think this is a game we shouldn’t underestimate. Strangely more nervous about us picking up points here than Leyton, i think it’s the expectation that it’s a given that we will win….. professional heads and performance needed.

Cheltenham have not lost in their last 3 home league games, conceded just 2 goals and picked up draws against Wigan (who beat us comfortably) and also derby who are now just 8 points behind us. They also beat Cambridge who we lost too…..

I hope we win but we will need to be very clinical with chances presented to us
Let me guess, you’re a glass half empty kind of guy.

Come on guys if we are serious about automatic promo this season at least talk the talk?

If people can't be confident of giving the lower division sides a good hiding then what's the point?
I am confident that if we retain an injury and suspension free squad there is nobody in this league to fear.

Didn’t want to put extra pressure on Dessy and the boys for this game so I haven’t used the prediction poll… Does that make me a bit odd?

COYY’s can’t wait for Saturday. Any away fans pubs recommendations pre match?

I recommend the Hewlett Arms. Parking, beer garden (although won't be as warm as last time I went), nice atmosphere, food, short walk to ground. Not great for the train station though!

The Sandford Park Alehouse (about 15/20 mins walk) best for proper real ale selection. Or The Strand - almost next door. Moon under Water Wetherspoons in Bath Road (does what it does) 5 mins further away. No decent pubs with 10 minutes of the ground but plenty in town. The Brewery Quarter (15 mins walk) has good selection of eating and drinking places if lager is your thing.

Elliott Moore on 4 bookings, one more before cut off 19th December he will get a one match ban

Thanks for that. Sounds good and hopefully they’ll have the Man City game on
