Manager/Coach Des Buckingham

My first hamster was only given to me on the basis that it would be called Maurice so that my Dad could shout at it if we lost. That hamster had to put up with a lot.

In the interview with Buckingham he talks about an under 21 team for next season and how to bring on more academy players to the first team- and stresses he's here for the long haul.
I noticed how he commented about being here for the long term project.

So for those with the pitch forks out, I think you may as well put them back in the shed as I can’t see Des going anywhere anytime soon.

To play devils advocate, this isn't unusual to hear? We all have good intentions in a new job when the novelty is still there.
I'm not wishing to start a punchup, it's just this type of comment fits in with a lot of other cliche things said in football.
