New Stadium Plans - The Triangle - Planning

The Triangle is further away from houses than Fratton Park, The Kassam Stadium and what The Manor was.

Much further, my point was more that there are 100s of sports stadiums in the UK of various sizes and in various situations, why would ours be the only one to be affected by the things he points out? Brentford, Brighton etc have built new ones recently so why not the triangle, what is exceptional about the site compared to everywhere else. He is just a mad old snob who doesn't want it anywhere near him as he is prejudiced against football fans, the best thing is it won't be anywhere near Tackley so nothing to do with him anyway.

Because it effects him and his FoSB mates (well, it doesn't really, they don't have any hobbies and hate anyone having fun)

That's the difference.

Kassam will submit his outline planning application as soon as the Stadium planning is approved, if not before, he won't be waiting for us to move out.
I wouldn’t be so sure, don’t forget there is a time limit on planning permission

What a load of drivel from Steve hill
He claims to of sat down with occ councillors is laughable and the police can't protect it from terrorism 🤣🤣View attachment 17998View attachment 17999View attachment 18000
The exact wording of the TVP response is at https://planningregister.cherwell.g...False&fileName=TVP Response 23-02276-SCOP.pdf

It says:
"Match day traffic must not create delays and obstructions to the highway network which could have a knock-on impact on the wider strategic road network – I.E. the A34. Traffic queuing to leave the A34 due to congestion on local roads surrounding is a worst case scenario that cannot be allowed to happen. Queues off the A34 MUST be avoided at all cost"
"BTP Have concerns that the car parking at Parkway Station is not of sufficient capacity to support additional parking for a stadium, they also have concerns that the Parkway station itself is quite small in terms of capacity for passengers, it may become difficult to manage people through."
"Traffic management colleagues have significant concerns with the roads surrounding the proposed development, and how they will safely accommodate large amounts of foot traffic. The A4165 Oxford Road for example, is not of sufficient width to safely accommodate the potential amount of foot traffic that will be generated, combined with vehicles and cycles that already use this road.ï‚· They are unable to see how the route will be able to function safely, without a very significant amount of alterations to improve the road network. There is currently no separation between pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles, in what will become a very crowded place at times.ï‚· Considering the volumes of pedestrians the A4165 footpath may need to handle, they are very narrow leading to the danger of pedestrians entering the carriageway."
"Kidlington already has a fragile road network that is badly affected when there are issues on the surrounding road network, such as the A40 and A34. The applicant must consider what additional impact this development would have on existing road networks, and what measures would need to be in place to mitigate against additional disruption. We do have concerns that the existing infrastructure is not sufficient to support the addition of the stadium, and improvements will need to be made"

"The impending protect duty must be considered at this stage – we don’t know the full extent of what this legislation will require but there will be a lot more onus on the stadium owners and operators, and the local authority to manage and hold risk. What measures will be taken to protect the development and its users from terrorism, both on match days and during normal community use?"
"All counter terrorism measures should be designed in from the start – it is difficult and extremely expensive to add them later."
"There are a number of significant vulnerabilities at the existing Kassam stadium, and it is extremely important that these are not transferred across to the new stadium."

"Football fans will move as they want to, and will not follow signposted routes. One route in and out of the site would not be ideal, and robust segregation plans for home and away fans should be in place to prevent crime and antisocial behaviour/disorder"

Can someone with a bit of photoshop knowhow add this massive Ox bridge to the stadium image and send it back to the Tackley tit/brummie Hillbilly . . .

I'm not so concerned with the front end of that Ox bridge - it's anything that might be dangling down at the back end of the bridge which might cause concern for any of our taller pedestrians.

Doesn't the Ox tend to have anything at that end removed?

This appears to be a very negative response?

At least the 'significant vulnerabilities' at the current stadium are accepted, so I assume that a lot of time in planning will ensuring that the new stadium will be shown to be fat better than the Kassam.

If this happens, then again this will weaker the opposition's argument.

Maybe it will become part of OUFC folklore to "rub them for good luck" on our way into the stadium. It'll become like the "Welcome to Anfield" sign at the Liverpool pitch entrance.

Fear the power of our cajones!

If Mr Hill had actually read the police response to the scoping plan, he would see that their concerns are for traffic on the A34 and specifically for traffic leaving the venue. Their other main issue is with people WALKING on Oxford Road and how it needs to be upgraded to cope with extra footfall.

If you take that comment along with the "terrorist threat" (which relates to vehicles being driven into crowds of people), their unstated requirement is for some barriers to be deployed on Oxford Road when there is any possible risk.

At no point do they set any conditions for the P&R and neither should they - it falls under the auspices of British Transport Police!
So on that definition of terrorist threat, there should be no gatherings of groups more than say 6 people wherever there is a road nearby at any time in any location ever, all very workable I’m sure.

Because people in North Oxford and Tackley (not so much Kidlington) have a ridiculous sense of entitlement. And I speak as someone who spent their childhood in North Oxford - there is an incredible amount of snobbery. Fortunately, I now live in a nice village where people welcome others and generally get on. We even allow volleyball at the local sports centre - no-one complained about it.
